It's the Landaulet version. The back end's roof goes down.

Not really sure why it's priced so high though. It's just another "glorified" special limited edition.

It's the convertible addition. I don't think there were very many made. I would love to have one of these but not for that kind of money. I had my AMG S class set up with all the bells and whistles and occasionally had a driver to cart me around. Amazing how much you can get done if you don't have to drive. I sold the car though and took a huge bath on the depreciation. Hyundai is making a really nice car similar to the Maybach but I think most people won't be able to get past the name plate, much like the VW Phaeton, which I also had and took a huge bath on the W12 version. It was a great car.

wow- 7455 pounds. Even after all that carbon fiber.

Hmm- Enzo or a Maybach. What a hard decision that is...

    What a joke.

If you want a real limo, the car to have is a 1971 Mercedes 600 SWB.

If you just want something new with a lot of room, just customize your own Sprinter Van.

I have looked into those. They can really be very nice. I would love to set one up as a mobile office.

Then why not buy a Rolls or Bentley and at least have a brand
than more than 1% of the population would recognize? I mean if
I were a zillionaire with huge ego, I would likely not want a Maybach,
because IF I had that sort of ego, no one would know the name!
Not to mention if Maybach tickles your ego button, you could have
one for $300k and still say you drove a Maybach.

During car week a dealer had one of these parked on the street in Carmel with a large for sale sign.

I get the fact that a Maybach 62 is a high end piece, but a million dollar premium for the folding roof section? I still don't get it. Is the sticker price really $1.5M or is this dealer playing around?

I have never seen the big deal on the Maybach. It is nothing more than a glorified 'S' with a price tag of 3-4x. What was that about a 'sucker born every minute?'

+1 My opinion exactly - I have an 08 E350 and it looks pretty much the same
inside, except for the rear recliners, wine cooler, roof, and price tag. Suits
me just fine - and I saved about $1.45 million :D

    and then there is depreciation.

Check out the listing prices of some older ones. in the high 100ks. What was the "retail" on a 62 and a 62s?

You can buy a new Mercedes-Benz S600 "Guard" (stretched and fully armored) sedan from the factory for that kind of money........a much better value IMHO and much more cachet.

None is bidding $1.3MM for it........just shills.......drive it off the lot and it is worth $400K........because it just another used Maybach, but with a big hole in the back.

You guys make a good point and have me thinking. If you bought the "cheap" version what would a custom coach builder charge to put the hole in the back and a rag on the top?

The correct answer to the original post is "nothing". Maybachs are total POSs. That is why they don't sell well. Old platform with "old" technology.

The execution of the top on that car is terrible. This would have been cool in 1990, but it just looks dated and bad now.

When they came out with the car all they did was soup up the 'S' and try to sell it for a ton of more $$$'s. But it is an S no matter how much you want to try and market it. Not to mention for that kind of money, there are other cars that have more prestiage, class, and history than what-ever MB calls it. (And I have 3 of them so I not a MB hater.)

These new Maybachs are such a joke. Perfect cars for rappers and russian oligarchs who made billions overnight. It's outdated in everything and has as much cache as a retired pornstar.

The Laundelet is almost insulting. 3x the price for a Moonroof so that you can hear your dollars dropping as you drive by ?

    Ugh.

    LOL !!!

Love the name of one of the salesmen.........Karl Stomberg........sounds like the Bond villain. For that price it should come with it's own Greyhound bus with a front end that opens like a garage so you can drive it inside to park it and go around town incognito.......
