US$ 1.4 M to US$ 1.6 M for a cut 365 GTC that had been in a fire in the early 1970s and lost its original engine? I'd say pretty ambitious. I value this at max US$ 500 K, if the sun shines (it's raining where I am right now).
But hey, it is always about finding a victim, isn't it?
PS: I've never been asked for a report for this car and I think I know why.

Let's hope a new owner will return that thing to an original 365 GTC.

Yes, sure, but it will forever have a story. Nobody can wipe that off. It's a bit like a tattoo.

If the Chinetti provenance is real, why not leave it as is? I'm not hating it. Nose is more reminiscent of a 275 GTB. And I understand why they changed the rear, but personally I prefer the crisper lines of the original PF design. Still, if someone wants a 365 GTC, they should ignore this car.

I'm apparently not good at paying attention to auctions. I thought the 365 California sold this past weekend but I see it is still available for 4mm asking.

I got a chance to see Pete Keelan I think it was, car collection when we purchased an airplane from him around 2010 or so and he had a 365 Califrnia Spyder amongst many other cool cars.

    The Chinetti special's nose looks a lot like a 365 California's.

I think you meant the rear, which is much better on the 275s. Much prettier. But then again is this sort of based on a Queen Mother?
