What one event do you want to see before you die? Be realistic, don't pick 'attend Monaco' if you have NO plans to go there - EVER, make it some place you have a realistic chance of going to. And it does not have to be an F1 event. You are limited to one event, one event that trumps all others on your list.
A bit tough to pick one race but I would love to see the F1 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, someday...
That one is tempting...I debated between 24H of LeMans and 24H of the Ring and would probably choose the Ring.
+1....SPA is going to happen. Other shot would be LeMans. Been to the Petite and it was good, but want to see the mothership...been to the cicuit in Sarthe; has to be a blast during the race. MB
this is a very tough question to answer ! ! it's going to have to beat the F1 races we've attended, annual trek to LeMans, Spa FIA-GT24h, the LMS races we attend, got to think on this one for a while...easier with a couple choices! Carol
No question there! Done all the others mentioned, but I like the endurance races as a spectator either Daytona or LeMans. Don't just go,you've got to drive them somehow! I thought Indy was awesome until I drove Daytona! A lap of the Ring or LeMans is to die for. Turn back the clock though and we get the Targa, the Mille Miglia, true classics public roads(that's why the IoM is so special).
Yeah, there are a LOT of races I am sure we ALL would have loved to have gone to years ago, LeMans up until about 1990 or so, with main emphasis on 1970~, 1984~, Monaco up until about 1985 with emphasis on the 60's, Spa, the 'Ring, Indy in the 60's and 70's, the NHRA Winternationals into the 70's, but pretty much ANY motorsport before it turned into a big, political BUSINESS. I used to follow dirt late models, and in about 1995 that turned into the same mess all the other motorsports did. Remember when World of Outlaws was king? That didn't last. SEE - ya got me going again!
IIRC I was reading a story awhile back of Grand Prix racing in the 60's - how all the guys would go to New Zealand during the off-season and race there, how it was one big happy family and all the guys travelled around together - THAT would have been fun to be a part of.
fyi for any of you who want to go to the LeMans 24h - you can go to the LMS Spa race in May which is a prelude for the big one at much cheaper cost or to the FIA GT Spa24h - in either case you get to sit anywhere, be above the garages, sit in the grandstand and watch the pit activity, full paddock access and even get into the garages, believe me there is nothing like the Spa 24h in the middle of the night or being at Eau Rouge at false dawn hearing and seeing the cars going up the hill - you experience sooo much more than at the F1 races. This is truly the only way to see Spa for all it affords the spectators. (and far fewer people and close parking access if you enter at La Source). Weather permitting during the 24h, there are hot air balloon rides over the circuit; extensive fireworks display about 23:30; you can rent a kart and drive the kart track (unless there's a race there). Most of all you aren't confined to an expensive piece of plastic for two days!! Carol
Many teams went to contest the 'Tasman' series, wish I had been around then, later we did have both the 'Springbok' and South American winter races to stay warm, unfortuately I missed on the Springbok.
