    From Wikipedia

The design was introduced in racing with the Coventry Climax 1.5 L V8 which evolved from a cross-plane to a flat-plane configuration. Flat-plane V8s on road cars come from Ferrari, Lotus' Esprit V8, and TVR's Cerbera Speed Eight. This design is popular in racing engines, the most famous example being the Ford-Cosworth DFV.

I knew about the TVR but had forgotten about the Lotus. All V-8s.

The only cars that use Flat boxer motors in production now would be Porsche and Subaru. The Cosworth DFV was not a flat 180 degree motor. It was a 90 degree V8.

They are talking about the plane of the crankshaft, not the configuration of the cylinders.

Do modern Ferrari V12s (456, Maranello, and 612 engines) have a flat crank?

How about the engines in the Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago?
