I say Sears Point (Infineon to all you non-purists). Imagine the passing opportunities and F1 cars screaming out of the Carousel down the dragstrip.

    Yum.

We wouldn't be having this convo if Michelin and FIA didn't screw the USA fans in 05. Then 06 was crappo with half the field crashing out on the first turn. It was a great atmosphere before that fiasco, with plenty of fan support, and building.

New York City (aka Manhattan). No way. Too many people in NYC hate cars. No place to park. Parking costs are exhorbitant. Most people can't have a car. Much more econimical to take the train out of town and rent as needed.

I can't believe this would be the kind of attraction that New Yorkers would want to support.

Californians LOVE cars. Despite spending their life away in parking lots called the freeway, they love cars. They would be more likely to support a race than NYC IMVHO

California has the weather and the population density to support an F1 race. Pebble Beach seems to be successful. Laguna Seca is not far away.

Even if Sebring were up to FIA standards (which it's not), where would you put everybody, and how would they get there? You need hotels (and I'm guessing that Chateau Elan could be booked MANY times over just by team personnel), not to mention a real airport, etc., etc. I can't see team personnel camping out in tents! I love Sebring, and run there every chance I get, but no way.

where ever they hold the race, there needs to be a couple 4 or maybe 5 star hotels near by...

And of course, Dallas does have some excellent clubs for Gentlemen which would probably be more than happy to entertain some of the more sociable drivers and crew members...and we could do the post race barbeque out at south fork ranch!

OK, forget Maimi - I vote for the big D.

Dallas would be good, but Dallas would not even build a stadium for their Cowboys. Even if they do a street race in Dallas some permanent building would be needed. Would Dallas be able to pull this off...realistically???

Dallas is one of my favorite cities, lots of really good places to eat, its very clean, and modern looking, and I see more European cars on the road there then in any other city.

The only other venue that could even begin to make economic sense is Daytona with a revised infield.

With Bernie's $20m sanctioning fee, the only way that an F1 race can stay out of the red ink is if it puts a minimum of 100,000 people in the stands. Otherwise we're looking at ticket prices that start at $500 for the weekend, like they have at all the European races. Indy was $10m, and the word is that Bernie asked for another $10m for the race to continue.

That said, what tracks can hold 100,000+ people and have decent ingress/egress, and have plenty of hotels. Short list guys.... Daytona, Indy, maybe California Speedway and it's clone in Michigan.
