It was sunny here in Seattle today so I left work 1 hour early to go for a drive. I cant even count how many thumbs up, how many smiles, peace sign and appreciation I got from people as I drive by and they see my car. they took photos and videos while I was driving. I went to the beach to get a cup of coffee. Parked my car and people started walking over to check out my car. A family of 4 on an SUV pulled up, Mom said "my son said you have an awesome car. He's never seen a Ferrari in person before, only in pictures, can he take photos?" I said of course! He stood beside my car while Mom took photos so I asked if he wants to sit in the driver seat while mom takes photos. With a big smile on his face he said "Can I?" I said of course! So I said to him, "get a good education, then get a good job and you too can have your dream car come true". Mom said Great advice - Thank you. Dad smiled too. He said You made my day, I told him you are most welcome! Here he is with a big smile on his face. Dan Image Unavailable, Please Login
And today I met a lancer evo's owner who gave me a lot of thumbs up, etc. Nothing wrong with that. After an half hour he started to say something like "huh yeah, but that's a RWD" "ha, I'm pretty close to you, my top speed is 300kmh". Really? It's incredible how much people can be presumptuous. He said "Yeah but I'm way faster than you from 0 to 100". I said "ok, good for you, tell me about your mods.." He answers "291 hp, it's stock". I LAUGHED SO HARD!!!!! His reasoning was like "290hp is equal to 290 kmh". Wow guys, I never knew that my car can easily 500+++ kmh. HAHA. Jealous and stupid guy. Why do I always meet them??? Dan - you are a good man and the kind of guy that promotes the good feeling towards our cars that some of us experience - thank you. As for the guy in the lancer Evo - well that's why he's driving a Japanese video recorder/air conditioner unit.
Reminds me when I joked to my friends that I own over 400 horses. They asked if I had a ranch. I said no, just a car!
That was so funny. Really I don't know how a guy can say "290hp-300kmh-evo x". Thanks to him for the laugh! It would be better a ranch for him, instead of an Evo X! But I've seen his Evo. His claim was so ridicolous! ..and he added me on instagram! Lol Sent from my F430 using Tapatalk.
Ok...drove to my 360 to the office (something I don't do often). One of our x-ray techs approaches me and asks "Whose red Ferrari is that outside." I did my usual pretend I didn't hear. Our nurse rats me out. Then the x-ray tech says " I really like that car, but what's all that stuff in the trunk...is that like the engine or something?" I love it, drive a Ferrari and the ladies instantly notice the junk in your trunk! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
People either pull out their phones or roll down their windows and stare. This one guy pulled up and yelled out to me "What's wrong, can't afford a Lamborghini?" Sent from my Ferrari F430 & 360
On July 4th, a pickup truck tried to run me off of the road. Has this happened to anyone else? He was passing me on the left (I was going about 70 MPH on a 4 lane divided highway) when all of a sudden he veers hard into my lane. Good thing I had the top down so I could see what he was doing. I veered onto the shoulder expecting that he would hit me, but he missed.
That's so true. I put it in neutral and blip it to 7000rpm and I hear all the cheers and clapping, then the light turns green. Sent from my Ferrari F430 & 360
I had these on one night and nearly caused an accident because other drivers were hypnotized or something they almost forgot to stop!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my Ferrari F430 & 360
I think all the hatred and jealousy is common but sometimes it really depends where you are. Rule of thumb, if there's a walmart near by, steer clear. 99% I get positive feed back and 1% of "What's wrong, couldn't afford a Lamborghini"? Comment. Sent from my Ferrari F430 & 360
Because he is on his way to a miserable job he hates and you weren't going fast enough for him. Nothing but jealousy. A typical day here in metro NY.
I get the very same talk from my better half. I'm generally focused on the road, especially when I know people are running around taking pics. My wife "hates" riding along or driving alongside because of this behavior! I've "only" got a 355, but being young (30) & looking like I'm 25 (at least when I shave), get a lot of "how did you afford this" and "what do you do" questions. When I tell them I'm basically the Han Solo of engineering, the questions just get worse. I don't particularly mind, the added attention is part of the deal when you're a custodian of one of these cars. The best times are at the local C&C events. I've had a guy (my age) ask where Xenia Onatopp is! Being a huge James Bond fan, that made me chuckle.
ok...now I have to know...what exactly does the Han Solo of engineering do? IIRC, Han wasn't a highly technical guy and would have preferred to blast his way out of a problem rather than come up with an elegant solution ;-) (you knew this was coming, didn't you?)
So....that's a bad way of engineering? Haha, yes, you make an excellent point! By training I'm an aerospace engineer (the rocket scientist jokes take on a whole new meaning), but in industry I'm a contract test engineer. Essentially a mercenary (which is why the Han Solo reference seemed appropriate!). I end up moving every year or so, but the compensation isn't bad!
It's was a nice hot summer day and I felt like a chocolate sundae. Stopped at McDonalds and drew a crowd. Mostly teenagers and men while women just kept walking and glanced a few times. Generally people are cool if you're cool. Act like a fool or a****h, you're gonna get treated like one. The kids love it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my Ferrari F430 & 360
