Is CHF11s the right fluid or ok to use or top off the PTU fluid with. Picture below any help appreciated. Image Unavailable, Please Login
depends what your topping up? the hydraulic side and the gear axel side use 2 diffrent oils Image Unavailable, Please Login for the PTU gears I recommend Motul 300v LS 75W-90 hydraulic side Motul DCTF High Torque all these are ester/poa based fluids so expect to pay a premium if you wanna cheap out a little then Motul GEAR300 75W90 for gears and regular Motul DCTF for the hydraulics (both are totally fine) DONT USE THE SHELL GARBAGE (unless you change it regularly whitch you should be doing anyways regardless of oil brand) you can even use the Mercedes oem fluid for the sls amg (exact same gearbox)
can you mix hydraulic fluids for the PTU. I have no idea what’s on there from previous owner and no record of it being changed ever. Thanks for the insight. Regarding the sls gearbox that would not pertain to the hydraulic fluid of the PTU or can you use the same hydraulic/dtc fluid you use in the getrag with PTU. it’s odd they say use the TF for the PTU gear oil and for the getrag Spirax. I wonder why they say use TF for PTU?
Sorry for my confusion I'm having issues with both my ptu and dct so I got them mixed up You can use the same fluids from the gearbox in the ptu just don't mix up the hydraulic fluid with gear fluid. That will end in tragedy.... I mixed whatever was in there with the motul as a bandage for my broken ptu so yea I did that.... It will get fixed soon properly If your hydraulic fluid is low and your getting low atf pressure I'm afraid I have some bad news for you
I have no warning messages about low pressure luckily. You think mixing fluids contributed to your issue or was the PTU already gone at that point?
PTU was gone already, no other reason why I would need to top it up otherwise. If it's low for no reason then it may be a internal leak in the ptu.
Some cars just start leaking from the hose on the bottom deteriorating, but I would tend to agree. This PTU is a huge PITA
Was also surprised to see that the hydraulic fluid for PTU is only slightly over half a liter in total. Thanks again this is extremely helpful.
