Yeah, I used to be completely phobic and terrified of wasps, even had dreams where they attacked me--probably symbolic of being stressed out. They do't really bother me anymore, but I sure don't like one in
the car with me--here in Texas you have to be careful about that during the spring, summer, and early fall.

Another personal terror was flying commercial--up until I was around 30 I used to either have to be already drunk to get on an airplane or would immediately down two or three drinks as soon as they were served, and always another two or three during the flight. Flying doesn't bother me at all now but then I get on an airplane only once every few years.

Spiders. I kill all spiders on sight. They are all poisonous and they will all kill you the first chance they get, so why take any chances?

I have killed 4 black widow spiders in my garage over the past 3 years. 3 summers ago, I had a roll of fiberglass home insulation in the corner of the garage. My 3 year old son was playing with this roll, flopping around on it and pulling at it. I made him stop. I then picked it up to move it and when I dropped it, it unrolled a little bit. A large black widow came crawling out of the fold. Had it bitten my 3 year old, it really could have killed him.

Biggest fear: something horrible happening to one of my children. Hard to even contemplate such a thing.

I also have a pretty decent fear of turn 12 at Road Atlanta! Its a 4th gear corner and I can hit close to 115mph at the track out point. You come into it after a very fast downhill, its bumpy at the turn it and it unsettles the car and the concrete wall is only about 15 feet to the outside of the corner. The wall on the outside and to the inside has plenty of nasty marks showing where others have come to grief. Carrying lots of speed through and powering out is critical because it dictates more speed all the way down the front straight. Its fast, critical to good lap times and the penalty for getting it really wrong is steep. A "BALLS" corner..... SCARY. But fun in that scary way. I have to admit I always take turn 12 at 9/10ths, just cannot bring myself to really hang it all out there!

In-flight turbulence scares the crap out of me but about 5 bloody marys usually solves the problem.

On a more serious note, I am paranoid of drowning, and hate being out of my depth in water, even though I can swim.

    Turbulence is fun! Weeee!! :)

Turbulence while flying a Cessna is even more fun!!

Its almost like one of those old, rough, wooden roller coasters. You dont complain that it beats the crap out of you do you? Its part of the fun!
