    Hi
I will list what happened to me in Ferrari Service in AbuDhabi-UAE :

    - I was planning to buy a 2009 California so I called the Ferrari service to ask whether it has a service history and a warranty
-The Service adviser recommended me to buy a 2009 599 Ferrari offered by a client
-Since the 599 did not have an extended warranty and to make sure that the car has no major issues or previous accidents... and after reading “The inspection involves no less than 190* different checks covering everything from the running gear to the electrical systems, bodywork and interior.”
Ferrari Approved: a pre-owned certification program for owners
    - After making the inspection the sales advisor assure me there was nothing wrong with the car, no accidents, and no failures except for minor issues which he stated the rear senor and gas cap...
    - After I bought the car I called about the last service, I was told by someone else it was entered the body shop for a bumper replacement (though the adviser has the history of the car.. but he did not tell me about that)
    - With the help of Steve here in the Forum I had an issue with right side paint (small spot of oxidation) so I took it today to the Service and when they inspected the car by the paint tester... they told me the half of the trunk and rear left side was repainted!
    - The 190 check points report I got from Ferrari it stated that it has no sign of accidents beside the assurance of the service adviser that the Ferrari did not have any accident

So has anyone got this bad trust experience with Ferrari Service and what I shall I do now

    Sorry to hear that.

In my opinion, dealers here are notorious for saying anything to move along old cars of their repeat clients so that they can sell a new car, a clear conflict of interest. In hindsight I would have gotten an independant tech to check the car over. While another topic altogether, I would not use the local dealers for service.

When you say 'offered by a client' - did you buy it from the dealer or privately with the reccomendation and written report of the dealer?

I suspect that if you bought from the dealer, your position for recovering the diminshed value of the car would be stronger, i.e. they may have misrepresented what they were selling.

    Thanks all for your replies

it was a privately owned with the reccomendation and written report of the dealer.

i relied on "190* different checks covering everything from the running gear to the electrical systems, bodywork and interior." since it stated that it would cover the bodywork inspection...

Today i registered a complaint to Ferrari dealer Main office in Dubai

Thanks again .. and i will update you

I understand the concern about this but one thing that often gets overlooked is that these cars are shipped by various means from the factory to different distributors or ports of enter, and then to the dealers when new. In the process they can be damaged. A dent, and ding, a scratch because a piece of dirt gets caught in a buffing wheel. Pretty much every port of entry has a facility where these issues are corrected/touched up. So having 1/2 the trunk painted could be nothing more that a shipping issue touched up before delivery to the dealer. A bumper repaint on a used car is pretty common to. But it is certainly your right to ask questions and have them answered. But a partially repainted panel doesn't necessarily indicate accident damage or fraud. It could have been that way from first delivery.

Don't discount another possibiility that Ferrari corrected the paint after it rolls off assembly.
Numerous stories on Ferrarichat about substandard Ferrari factory paint jobs - I have friends who received a new Ferrari and paint was shedding from the fender edge. The dealer quickly had that area re-painted.

Near Zero miles, fresh new Ferrari delivery to customer and it needs spot painting. Sad but true.

Have you ever seen the out of range or paint to sample paint jobs? Ferrari sends them to an outside vendor and that is why they are so good.

Doesn't sound to me like the OP has discovered anything of real concern. (Yet, anyway).

    Someone could have "keyed" it?

While it would be preferable that the car had never been repaired it's probably not a big issue. I'd suggest you ask the dealer to tell the owner you want an explanation of what was repainted and why. Assuming it was done by the previous owner I'd ask for the before and after photos. If he claims he doesn't have them he's almost certainly not telling you the truth. If he has them and all that happened is that he had some minor damage repaired I'd be happy enough with that myself.

You should speak with the sales manager at the dealer and politely tell them the story and following that give them two options:

    1. They can cancel the sale and give you a full refund.
    2. After you get a PPI that shows the paint is the only outstanding issue with the car (if any other significant things are found, they must cancel the sale and refund your money) then they can re-paint the car at their expense.

This seems only fair and equitable.

why would it need to be repainted? Its just a little thicker than what the Factory paint would be.

Ferrari send out some bad paint jobs right out of italy, Damage during shipping happens.

I have seen how some of those cars end up in Dubai. To say it couldn't have been damaged and repaired before the original owner bought it is ignoring the fact that people that work in shipping are not very concerned with your car.

My 430 has had every panel resprayed except for the doors and trunk.

fresh paint on a Ferrari is common occurrence, owners tend to repaint the panels when they get stone chipped etc.

As long as the body work is the original, with no bondo or body filler, ie no dents or bumps I wouldn't be too worried.

As for a replacement bumper, front or rear?

Front bumpers do get scuffed on kerbs etc, but this bit would perhaps put me off.

The paint oxidation is more of a worry, as it likely means it was repainted by a cheap body shop. As it has likely occurred from being sanded back to metal by a shop who does not known how to deal or does not have the right equipment for aluminum bodies on the car. This happens a lot from cheap body repairs. This it would put me off, as if the respray was done on the cheap, then what else was too.
