    Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum and have been looking at a few nice 355 GTS Ferraris for sale. Both cars are 1996 and have 15-20,000 miles. Excellent shape. One red and one black. Both are consignment vehicles. What do you think I should end up paying for them?

    Thanks in advance.

60-65 and dropping, I suspect they are asking ~75?

    Depends on +/- recent major.

$70K-$80K for the red one depending on condition, last timing belt service and the age of the cats. But they are stiil depreciating due to parts costs.

Red car had belts done at 15,000 a few years ago. Always serviced at a Ferrari dealer. No paintwork. One owner car. Really looks nice. They are probably looking for mid 80's which seems a little high considering I can get a 97 spyder with 6,000 miles for 93. Any more opinions?

$85k for a 96 is too much in my opinion - Especially since the major was a few years ago.

$70-$75k would be fair assuming it passes a PPI and there are no valve guide issues.

Deal sounds a little high. One of my guys who finds cars for me to flip says he's ran across a 95 F355 Spider at a steal. It has less then 20k miles, recent service done, very clean car. He said the asking price is $74k which sounds way to low, I'm calling him today to have him go check it out and if it all checks out, I will let you know. Just provide me an email to keep you updated on.

    Regards,
    Kevin

My car is looking like it will be around $81-$82. It still seems a little high for a 96 but I have also not seen any GTS cars in the 70 range either. The only good thing is the car is very nice, no paint, all service records and really drives tight. Still not sure.

Here is an e-mail I got from Rob Lay:

    Ferrari F355 GTS

Four time FCA Platinum Award winner

    One owner since new

1996 F355 GTS in the rare Rosso Barchetta (the original Ferrari Red from the 1950s; darker and richer than the standard red); beige leather interior with black leather accents, black factory top. Impeccably maintained; all service only at authorized Ferrari dealers. 30,000 mile service (includes cam belts) less than one year old (second one; done every four years); new catalytic converters; new exhaust headers….looks and drives like new.

Original and unmolested, this car, at approximately 37,000 miles is a superb example of its type. Never a garage or trailer queen, this great machine has been mostly street driven, with some time on tracks as part of Ferrari Club of America driver training. All paint original except for the front clip (windshield forward) which was repainted in early 2004 to clear up minor rock chips. This work was undertaken at the Ferrari Authorized body and paint shop at Ferrari of Houston and is a perfect blend with the original paint on the balance of the car. All systems operate as new; cold A/C, power windows, steering, and brakes; factory multi-speaker sound system, with Pioneer cassette head unit (in 1996 the Ferrari factory installed the speaker systems and wiring, but not the head units; leaving that up to the owner). Two sets of original Ferrari floor mats (one for daily use, one for concours). All original equipment and paperwork included: all manuals, delivery paperwork, unmolested tool kit, emergency light, factory car cover, steering wheel and seat covers, and their original carry bag. Largely new (average of approximately 70%) Bridgestone SO-1 tires (original fitment). Targa top is in superb shape and comes with its protective cover (and its carry case). Interior is near perfect, with some of the patina one would expect in a car of this age. Exterior has expected minor paint chips; windshield has small nick. Always maintained to full factory specifications and by authorized Ferrari dealers; always garaged, factory alarm system and engine immobilizer; Lojack equipped.

All major mechanicals are superb; always serviced at Ferrari dealers and only with Ferrari original parts. Have all maintenance records for major services and virtually all for minor services. All maintenance work, including all major services has been completed. 30,000 major service done last summer at Ferrari of San Antonio including all belts and new cats (dealer will attest to condition/quality of the car; contact Phil Winebrenner). Exhaust headers have also been replaced as part of factory replacement program. Front brake pads are near new, with resurfaced rotors.

F430 on order and only room for one of these fabulous exotics, so I must, regrettably, sell this exciting machine after nine years of ownership. A rare find for a knowledgeable buyer. $79,900.

See it at FCA Indy Annual Meet June 18 – June 22

No affiliation, just passing the lead. Rosso Barchetta is of course the most desired color on the planet, just look at my profile. :)

On the first glimpse I read it as:
"Why should I pay for a 355 GTS?"

and thought to myself: yeah, everything will be free in communism...

I would say mid-70's as well. You're going to have to part with an additional 5-7k in a year or two for the major service so keep that mind. Also get a PPI w/ compression & leakdown numbers.

    60k - 65k will not happen - unless you wait 4 years.

Be still my beating heart. Would love to see a pic of Rosso B next to Rosso C.

Any more pictures at all of the car in Rosso B? Either yours or his?
