The silver paint has rubbed off & been scratched on the top plastic engine cover.
I've got Testor's 1181 matt Aluminum that is a close match. Anybody found something better?

Funny as I had the same question....anxious to hear responses.

How are you planning to apply it? With a roller?

I was thinking about a roller. But one with any knap wont work. It would almost have to be a rubber roller. I think I'll visit the local art store.

I tried a q-tip dipped in the paint. That was ok, but didn't apply a consistent layer

Next up, I was going to try a stiff-bristled artist brush.

I wanted the paint to match because most of the strips are only lightly damaged and I really dont want to repaint the whole thing & risk getting awful results.

I plan on making my plenaum chambers in red so I will spray everything in Hi-temps silver, let it dry then mask the lines straight with narrow masking tape and paint everything else in hi-temp red and then clear coat.

If you do not want to alter the color, perhaps you can use the same process but use black instead....just an idea

I have a rubber ink roller I was considering using. It is 6" wide and should put the paint on in one pass.

Probably take numerous coats to prevent it from running down the sides of the raised ribs.

    You first :)

I spray painted mine. Then took some wide masking tape and taped over them, I used a razor blade down the sides of the raised area then painted the rest of it black.
