You will think that it is 1 1/2 inch hose.. but it isn't. It's something metric but you can use the next size up in silicone hose, 1 5/8" or 1 9/16 if you can find it. The 1 5/8" is a good fit unless I remembered my fractions incorrectly.. Lester Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ok, I just called Baker Bearing and they do have the 90 deg. 1 /58 silicon in black and other color too. Thank you.
I believe it is a 40mm ID on that hose. 1 5/8 is 42mm and 1 1/2 is 38mm. Either way you are off by 2mm . I would go 1 1/2 for a tight fit rather than clamping down on the hose
They are metric. That's why you get different answers for US sizing. The world is a small place now, metric silicone hose is not hard to get. I bought a meter (3 feet for 'Mericans) from these people to do all of the couplings and so far it seems like good stuff. DO NOT TRY the 1 1/2 " Silicone hose. It does not stretch enough like a rubber hose, it will not fit well on the pipe and you will spend entirely too long trying to make it fit. Heating the hose won't help and when you finally get smart and buy the larger hose it will slip right on and you will wonder what on earth you spent those last 3 hours doing.. or so I've heard… Matt, I didn't even think about McMaster-Carr, I wanted something close by and didn't even plan on the silicone but when the guy at the counter brought out standard rubber line when i asked for Green Stripe? White stripe? whatever it was I knew that I needed to go a different way. Lester

The size is 40 mm with specs according to DIN 73411. 40 mm is the inner diameter, DIN means German industrial standard and 73411 is the standard for automotive cooling system hot-water flexible hoses. This is what all Ferrari specialists in Europe use for 308/328 and you can buy the hoses per meter at Superformance in the UK.
you can not buy elbows in meter, only straight hoses. I just ordered a complete set of waterhoses incl. elbow and heating hoses for a 308 QV. the elbow size is 40 mm, but a 41 elbow also will fit

Hello all, These are 40mm hose, if you replace all with silicone, much better. I buy mine on the local market by the meter, not that expensive (at least not in Spain). Hint: use spring clamps instead of screw type and forget about retightening. John
Yes, the silicone hoses last for ever and keep their good looks. I replaced with original Gates 40 mm that lasted for 30 years, so I will have to redo the job when I approach 90
