Just finished a major rebuild of my 1970 308 engine after 3 years, it's turning fine now on the starter, but I don't seem to be getting any sparks.

Just rechecked the timing, it's all correct, so I decided to fit the new set of points and condensors I bought about 5 years ago.

I removed the distributor and opened it up, and this is what I found. No points. No condensors.

It seems to be an inductive system, with a 4 pole rotor moving inside two coils connected to the main Magnetti Marelli coil units. There are two spring backed cylinders in each centrifugal arm, but the springs appear to be completely collapsed.

I'm putting everything on hold until I check this out, but I've already been considering fitting the Superperformance BSM system.

The sprung cylinders are the stock mechanical advance system.

Thanks Andy, that sounds like it all right.

But the mechanicals in mine look knackered, so I'm hoping to fit an electronic programmeable system.

Superporformace don't think they will be supplying the Australian ,BSM system, as they haven't heard from them for a while.

I hhave a 123Ignition system in my 1970 Lotus, but they don't do Ferrari at the moment, so i'm still looking.

I've been begging MSD to help us as the do Chevy guys, it's a ripe market.

Pertronix has it's fans, I still run points/condensers the OEM stuff.
Correct the date of your car, NOT 1970, but......1980??
    North American car??

I have been begging BSM to make another run for years but I just haven't gotten much of a positive response. I wish they would!
