I assume headers and initial CATS are the same? What is the difference? Anyone have the part numbers?

    Thanks!

Jason- You would need to check these since I cannot tell if they are just late model rear exhausts or the sport exhaust, 224371 and 224372. You would need to ask a dealer to make sure. Not that expensive, surprisingly, from the UK parts houses.

Thanks Taz. So the rear boxes are the only thing that got changed? No change to the pipes off the headers with the second cats?

Also, did the HGT exhaust have active valving or were they "solid state"? Thanks.

Finally, what model year did they start offering the sport exhaust on the 612? Were there Ferrari 612 OEM exhausts that had that same "propeller" look that weren't the louder sport version?

I think the HGTS / HGTC models came in around 2006. Those included the sport exhaust, which has the double-walls.

OK, so it looks like anything with the sport exhaust also had the valves. If you added the sport exhaust, what else do you need to add to operate the valves? I assume there is plumbing but where is the control knob or button located? Or would you ever really run it in the closed position so would it make more sense just to force it open (especially if you are buying them to get more sound out of it relative to stock or Tubi)?

    Thanks guys.

Jason- There are vacuum lines from the vacuum accumulator and a solenoid that operates from a signal generated according to a schedule in the Motronic DMEs. Not sure you could retrofit it to early ones if they did not have valves. The valves are fail open, so if you fitted them to an early 612 and it did not have valves or the hoses and solenoid, they would be open at any rate. Just need to plug the vacuum inlet on the pneumatic valve on the muffler.

I am not 100% sure early 612s did not have valves. I just cannot find them in the early parts catalogs.

    Thanks Taz.

Any reason I'd want them closed? Based on what I've disclosed about my sound preferences and the fact that the Tubi cans I have on are a bit quiet for my preference? I.E. would you say just install and leave open?

Also Taz, with respect to the silver mesh used in the rear bumpers on the HGT cars, is that to help hide the valving better or to just change up the look? Was it also matched with some silver meshing up front or was that it? Wondering if I would want to change that out.

It looks like my car is provisioned with the plumbing and mounts for attachments to the valves on a sport exhaust.
