Just as it is misleading to say MS beat anybody to about 3 of his boring titles because the car was so superior that even Barrichello could have won the title for Ferrari.

    So what do we do?

We either judge drivers by the WDC they have won, and that is how F1 works, or we don't and then we might as well petition the FIA to remove the WDC as it is a waste of time.

Thus FA is a 2 times WDC and MS was racing in both those years so he beat MS ... and all the other drivers that year, fact!

    Pete
ps: Personally this is how I see the WDC count:

2 to Senna - the FIA should not have allowed him to keep the one when he purposedly removed Prost from the track.
5 to Prost - add the one above, and that would have been a Ferrari one BEFORE MS!!! ... how history would have completely changed, and MS would not be the hero he currently is.
4 to MS - He simply cheated too many times and when the car is that dominate Ferrari should have been forced in to hiring a real driver as number 2 to make a race of it.
4 to Fangio - He shouldn't have taken over Collins car as Collins had put that car in a better position than he and Collins had as much chance as winning that year as he did.

Thus Prost should be the all time current top of the F1 WDC tree!

    Hmmm...
So when I put the score at 1-0 in favor of Alonso because the only season that MS and FA truly competed against each other was 2006, that is incorrect.

It should be 3-2 in favor Schumacher because he "beat" Alonso in 2001, 2003 and 2004, even though Alonso was in a Minardi and a half-ass Renault at the time. That sound about right to you?

and the only reason he won in 06 was because Kimi had a non exsistant car and ferarri took half the season to finally get the car running properly. Once Ferrari did, we saw Alonso get his hat handed to him. It was just to little too late for Ferrari. Oh, plus the famous WDC gift from Ferrari to FA with their engine blow at the end of the season.
IMHO, FA is a good driver in a perfect car and as long as he has a perfect car and every other driver and team are having major issues with their cars then FA has a good chance to win the WDC. But if another driver has a great car too, well then the true fiber of FA begins to show. We saw that last year with MS when Ferrari finally got the car right and we're seeing it now with LH. LH has the same great car this year however he is leading FA and making it look easy. If FA is as good as a "true" two-time WDC then he should be putting on a clinic for his rookie teammate. However, it seems the other way around. Everyone said (including FA) that FA had the quicker car in Indy. Well if that's true then why couldn't the "two-time WDC" make a simple pass on a rookie?? FA tried and got shut down then he went off in the grass on the infield. Oh, and let's not forget about Canada...yikes!
If FA wins the WDC this season I for one will never doubt his WDC title or ability. Until then, the jury is still out...
    IMHO of course.

    Blah, blah, blah...

And had Senna lived, Schumacher would still be chasing his records, yada, yada. yada...

At the beginning of every season, everyone starts out with zero points. Some teams do their jobs, others don't. Alonso and Renault won in 2005 and 2006. All your whining and woulda-shoulda-coulda won't change a damn thing. Learn to live with the fact that Alonso is a 2-time champion.

Actually, I think FA has got the whining area covered for all the drivers in F1 as well as the fans.

I do live with the fact that FA is a 2-time champion because it is a fact..........on paper. As I stated before, If FA wins the title this season I will consider him a "true" champion.

What is this following quote, if not whining?

I don't know what you consider a "true" champion to be but I am pretty sure Alonso doesn't lie awake at night wondering what you think of him. Give it a rest, he won, Schumacher didn't. Get over it.

Correct, but unlike everybody else on the grid, he actually did beat MS twice.

But I can see where you are coming from with the 1-0 to Alonso but like my version of the WDC there are way too many 'if's ... :)

Massa and Hamilton just happen to be friends. Hamilton recognizes that Massa is a worthy adversary, Massa the same, so they have developed a freindship.

I love how you put it that way, instead of just saying that they happen to like each other and became buddies. I guess it wouldn't be worth it, without the cliche racing drama added.

It's obvious you don't know. Look up the definition of whining. It will be easy to find because there's a large photo of Alonso next to it. :D

I disagree. I think he does lie awake at night worrying and I think it's evident by the way he's been driving lately. He's getting rattled and it's by a rookie. Oh, and wasn't it interesting durring the F1 driver interviews special on Speed that the only drivers to get interviewed one at a time were FA and LH. Hmmm, because of scheduling problems?? Sure......or is it because FA can't stand being overshadowed by his rookie teammate?? Oh yes, I think the "2-time" champion is getting worried because he finally actually has some competition. It's going to be great watching FA and LH battle it out the rest of this season.

If you think that FA is a "true" 2-time WDC...that's totally fine. We'll just have to agree to disagree. No big deal. :)

Yeah, you're right, Kimi and Schumacher really were no competition...

Last time I checked the record book, Alonso was listed as WDC for 2005 and 2006.
