More odd things found on my dismantling of the the Mondial. I took off the front spoiler to get some repair estimates. Inside, I found some old ketchup packets, and a Black Bilstein box, which reads Sensor Quer- beschleunigung Ferrari 137836 BILSTEIN B46-781 (LK) 05 9982 03 And some wires, which I assume at one point went to this box. The box was just laying there! I have googled some of the terms, and found not a whole lot. Does anyone know what this is supposed to be? Thanks Sam
It's a Sensor Querbeschleunigung made for Ferrari by BILSTEIN. Sorry couldn't resist. Actually Querbeschleunigung translates into Transverse acceleration so maybe it is an airbag sensor???
See the MondialT OM -- in the "Suspension" section it's described as an accelerometer that is part of the (automatic) shock absorber setting system
Querbeschleunigung free translation: G-force generated in a curve, I suppose when it detects hard cornering it changes the damper settings to hard.
odder things have been found. a few years ago one of the challenge teams found a rat inside the framework on the fron of a 360. Had to pull most of the front end apart to get to it for removal. The way I heard it, they were told that it was identifiable as being of a species indignous to Italy, so must have been inside the car prior to shipping. Scottie www.TheCarcierge.com
from the manuals and books.... The mondial T has this "interactive with the driver" ride handling system...there is a dash switch that lets the driver select a soft (for city) medium (various and mountain driving) or hard ride (track). the sensor you found mounts (very loosely I might add - esp. for what it does)) on the middle top of the cross frame in front of the radiator. It senses when the car is at a dangerous angle and speed and it locks down or automatically overides and sets the shocks appropraitely to improve handling of the car.
I am more surprised to learn that there was actually a rat expert standing there when it fell out. What are the odds of having one of those guys around at exactly the right time?
