This happened just over a half mile from my house a few weeks ago: Nissan 350 Crash Kills Passenger And just this weekend, this happened about a 1/4 mile from me (Mustangs, Hhhhhhhhh....): Mustang Street Race Kills 2 Pedestrians, One was a Little Girl
This surprises you? I have never seen such bad driving and bad decision making by drivers in my life as I do here. I have been here 2 years and seen more fatality accidents here than the last 20 years in California. Running red lights is a sport here and I have seen 3 die from that alone. But the Bee Cave police are making sure the accident free Bee Cave Parkway is free from speeding cars 24/7 while there are fatality accidents 1 mile away on 620. Not once have I seen them write a ticket for running a red but go 47 in a 45 or go without a front plate and you'll hear about it. I have never seen such a poor use of man power.
High performance cars with low performance drivers, add in bad decision making and you have tragic endings.
Agreed, 100% Bee cave is finally catching on, in a bad way, they are the younger siblings of the Lakeway troops! That squad and use of man power is truly disturbing... I live in the midst of it.
I was not aware politics was connected to bad driving and poor traffic enforcement. But if tax dollars going to radar enforcement on roads with no traffic or safety issues at the expense people getting stupidly killed is politically motivated maybe you are right. Personally I just call it stupidity.
Except when heading out to Brian's shop, I avoid 620 and Lakeway area like the plague. The no front plate ticket / other useless tickets are true, vs. red light offenders and blasting through the area. Low hanging fruit is their game. I once received a ticket in Lakeway. First thing the guy asked, "are you a resident of Lakeway?" Then, back and forth in the court for speeding when I wasn't speeding at all. A part time judge named Ron, wearing jeans & boots, would show up and make sure everyone was guilty to everything.
Lakeway police are just security guards. Calling it a police force is an insult to real police. Not sure Travis SO is any better.
It's just bad driving, linked with excessive speed..poor maintenance sometimes figures in, but I see a lot of wrecked new cars. Here in Houston tailgating at 80MPH is the "norm", and in Rush Hour there will be at least one total rollover based upon impacts when changing lanes. Good news, is that those guys will NOT be in tomorrow morning's mix!!!

No money in picking people up with stick and a spoon when you can write $400 coupons to the monied elite on BC. Satx has unmarked cars everywhere, damn constables and school cops too. Kid got killed in a crosswalk while they were chasing some dumbfck thru town with 15 cars. Shop vacs and body bags cost $. Tickets make $. To protect and earn.
