I know it might be like sending an expensive open bottle of wine back at a fine restaurant, but is there anything we need to inspect? I was thinking maybe the leather stitching and of course the body and wheels, etc. Did anyone really give there car the once over at pickup?

I picked up mine and it had 100 miles on it. I was told this is because they test drive it at the factory. Let me know if yours has that much mileage.

I think it's pretty much the same as picking up other makes - just make sure the fit and finish are to your satisfaction, you'll have plenty of time to shake down the mechanicals and electronics! My sales guy was fairly thorough going thru the operational basics, and paired my phone for me.

    How much longer Cavalier?

I can't remember exactly, but my car had quite a lot of mileage as well. When I picked it up, I think it had 80km or so on it. It was more than I expected, especially compared to a Lexus I recently bought which only had 9km on it.

A lot of people have had paint problems on their car at pickup, including forum members Calitalia and myself. Calitalia even had his car sent back to the dealer to get completely repolished, I believe.

Other than that, I don't think there is much to check. The big one is the paint finish, however.

As the other posters mentioned, check the paint. (mine was just fine). I did, however, notice that the round hole cover (plug) was missing from inside the arm rest compartment. Admittedly a very small issue. My salesman had the part for me within a few days.

I guess its best to make sure all the options are actually correct as ordered and that all the manuals covers & keys etc are present

I would ask them to show you where the trunk key hole is in case the remote/auto ones don't work. It's pretty well hidden under the lip.

Also, you might want to ask them to show you how the gas intake works.

Mine came with 64 km and a whole car full of spider webs and swirlmarks. Visual inspection shows most run of mill VW having much much better paintwork. My car's roof, body had spider webs all over them. It was so unacceptable that I had to send it back after 1 week. the day upon pickup was a rainy one so that slipped. When I had time to look under the sun, the car looked horrible. I suspect it had something to do with the factory. The PDI already took care of some of the marks but the paintjob was so horrible that it couldn't pass for a 45K USD car let alone a brand new Ferrari for 450K USD. It was ridiculous. I had to send it back. They had to carry out swissvax on the car. Now the paint is almost perfect. Regardless, paintwork is not a strenght on Italian Stallion so I heard.

The dealer at first said it was less than stellar cos it was handmade (BS) as the new aged Ferrari plant couldn't be more automated. If you expect Luigi and Mario to paint your car, think again. The whole plant is robotic. So much for hand made. All cars are painted by robopainters. Hence, whoever says Luigi and Mario paint your car was taking you for a run. It is highly automated.

Make sure the gas filler cover opens. I have had mine in twice and it still fails to open on the first 5 or 6 tries.....
