I have been going to the USGP every year since it's been held at Indy and never really did anything outside the track other than eating/sleeping.

This year I am taking a friend from out of town who has never been to a GP (or Indy for that matter) and I would like to find out what events/activities are talking place "off track" after all the racing.

We will be there starting Thursday and staying through Sunday.

I have no interest in strip bars or dance clubs etc.

    Thanks in advance.

FCA normally has a special event on Friday: In the afternoon the cars assemble for a quick organized drive through the city and then go downtown for a concours. It is a blast to have a cop wave you through a red light. :)

FChat normally has its annual dinner on Saturday night.

Also it is nice to check out the downtown restaurants on Friday and Saturday for some F1 celebrity spotting.

The city has a couple really good new museums, worth seeing.

You mentioned no strip clubs, but there is one really worthwhile for racing fans: Classy chassis is filled with racing memorabilia including a Ferrari 333SP (or at least its body) hanging off the ceiling. Just go there for a beer and check out the car collection, awesome.

And of course there is the Indy racing museum at the track.

One of my fav hangouts during the day are the collectors shops outside the track and some of those bars and just watch the race fans. Also you could visit the FCA folks with their own parking area and RV where the die hard Ferrarifans hang out.
