Long story short, my brother went to Canada. Called me because there was a diecast store close to his hotel. I asked him to pick up a FXX elite for me. He did $75. He brought it back and gave it to me unopened. When I opened the box and took it out, there is a paint chip abouve the front wheel. Bugs the hell out of me. Anyone have any contact info for Hot Wheels? Any other ideas?

The contact info should be in the box under the car.
I would strongly advise writing a note when you return it to them that you want a Ferrari Elite FXX. I don't know if it will help but I have heard multiple times of them not returning the correct car.
In fact have heard at times they will just return a item of equal value and not always the same type of car.

If not there then go to Mattel.com and see what you can find there under the Hot Wheels information center they have set up.

Having been in the diecast model business for 14 years or so...youre in a tough spot. Maybe this being an elite model will help, but usually the customer is SOL. Try calling the model store as well as Mattel. If the store does issue a refund or exchange it's going to be their loss as diecast manufacturers dont take their returns for damages. Usually we would not issue a refund because of a chip but would do an exchange.

The good news is that we (and I assume most other model stores) got pretty good at fixing damaged models because Manufacturers dont often exchange/returns for dealers..retail customers may have a better luck

I dont have the talent to fix broken models..but I had one of my employees work wonders. Dont use a sharpie..instead use a q-tip and some Tamyia paint. I think he actually then wet sanded the models too

That makes sense. It looks like it was repaired. I thought maybe just a layer of paint came off, but now that you tell me about this practice, more than likely it was chipped to the metal or primer (if they use primer) and then touched up. This sucks.
