So, the 'bulb has been loitering in the service area at Ferrari of Orange County for the last several weeks {months}. It's got a cold start problem. Runs fine. Got the low-end sorted and it's fantastic. Problem is, that when the car starts from being cold, it sputters, stutters and generally sounds like crap. Worse than a Mondial with 90,000 miles after a night out in the Hamptons...

To be fair, I've not been pressing FoOC to get the car done. I've been really, really low key about getting the car back. a) because I don't have a decent place to park it and b) Keri will be reminded that we have a Lamborghini and a Ferrari and she'll remind me that I promised to sell it and c) I'll weep openly that the 355 Erly Riser Crew has been decimated and d) they'll laugh at me at Crystal Cove...

ANYWAY, I want to poll the board for some advice on what to do with the car:

Option 1: Do nothing. Let FoOC fix the car and then just keep it for a bit...

Option 2: Continue down Ferrari Road and head toward F430 Street. Send the car to the Wynn dealership in LV. Have it repaired there and sold. Buy something from stock from Chris M. and continue the F430 process... (The Wynn Dealership is part of United Auto, as is Ferrari of Central New Jersey. And we know how great I think they are!!!)

Option 3: Buy my first 'merican car, a Ford GT. Leave the car at FoOC until it's fixed. Sell it. Buy a Ford GT. Not sure if you've seen this, but: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4566789075

Option 4: Don't replace it. Stoops. Who the funk thinks that's a good idea?

Option 5: Pimp-Daddy(tm) White 360. A while back, there was a Avus Bianca/Cuoio 360 Modena (F1) for sale that I wanted really badly. I did not jump on it, and it sold. I found the new owner and he's putting it up for sale. Launch the 'bulb and get it.

Option 6: Something completely different. Maybe it's time to really man up and pick up a real-deal, old-skool vintage Italian Automobile...

Oh, and there's no way I'm losing the Gallardo...

    What do you think?

my humble 2 cents: i would say options 3 or 5. white seems to be the new black. i think that 360 you're referring to is gorgeous. and the white w/ blue racing stripes GT is also classy. can't lose, either way.

A vintage Ferrari and a Gallardo. Sounds like a fantastic pair to me.

Options 3 and 6 sound the most interesting.

Although great cars, the 360s are too common, so they are everywhere (not bad talking the 360, just sayin the truth). And I am a hypocrite, because it is a bit of the do as I say, not as I do kinda thing, bc as much as I talk, I'm probably not getting rid of my 355.

Option 3 - A Ford GT - thats the most interesting car that has come out of the US in a looong time. It seems to be a monster, and a very sweet one at that. You do live in Cali though, so I might opt for a spider of some sort.

Option 6 - There's nothing as cool as a vintage, convertible car for cruising around. I own a 1966 MGB, and as slow and wimpy as it is, I love the damn thing - its fantastic! So, an idea might be a sweet Dino spider, a more recently converted Ferrari 365 Daytona spider, or a number of other sweet Euro spiders. They are VERY sweet and you will be hard pressed to pass another one on the street.

    OK, well there's my opinion.

P.S. I love Fishbulb, and if it were mine, I would NEVER get rid of it. There's still something about the 355 that the 360 and 430 don't do for me.

Option 7 - Upgrade the Bulb to the F50 sitting at WWoC.
Option 6a - Upgrade the Bulb to the Daytona at WWoC

Option 9 - Go for the gold & pick up a Mondi: WWoC with a Mondial T.

ok, so I was just at WWoC for a visit. Oh well.

Serious: if the Gallardo isn't gonna be a track car, maybe a CS or the 430. Can't seperate the man from his machine.

I will forgive the insane Mondial comment.
    Now:
The rest can be easily eliminated.
That leaves 3 choices, any of which is OK.
To narrow further, I'd go with a 430. Chris (remember him?) talking about the joys of a truly modern F car is pursuasive.
    If you go with vintage,
    try this:

Option 1: You really know that you love the car but realistically you know you like the Gallardo better. Faster, easier to maintain, and handles amazing compared to the 355. Sell it.

Option 2: F430 is not that great. Yeah it is technologically advanced but the car is not that good looking but that is just me. I like option three better.

Option 3: Great idea. It is something totally different but problem is you might get addicted to the American Muscle. LOL!

    Option 4: NO!

Option 5: Yeah but if you ever want to get rid of it, how many people will want it? Most people buying 360's want a flashy color.

    Option 6: Good idea also.

So in summary, option #3 & #6 are best bets.

Sell the 'bulb via UAG. Get a white FGT or 360 (let fate decide that one...find the right car for the right price and get it). When your place comes up for the 430, get it...(trade the 360 for it, but keep the FGT.)

Ship Fishbulb back to NY and have it fixed at one of the many competent independent shops. Come back to NY every once in a while and come out to play. :)

(With a little luck and diversion your wife might even think Fishbulb is gone)

    I like option 3 & 6.

3 - The Ford Gt's are just so unique and have a great look. You can never go wrong with any of the color combo's. Bentley Long Island has two of them and there are photos below.

6 - A Dino Spyder would be the best vintage Ferrari for cali.

What about an Aston Martin DB9 Volante?

Option 7: Sell the Bulb through FoOC. Take the money. Top it up. Invest in Hedge Fund. Buy a Carerrara GT next year.

Or you could sell the Bulb through FoOC in a couple of months, get said Ford GT at MSRP, run around with two of the meanest machines in recent automotive history, and then trade the FGT for your F430 when it arrives you-know-when.

In other words... a Mondial!!!! :)

Seriously .. I like this option the best with option 3 as a close second. Go for something really unique. You are definately not a "me too" type of person, so get off that 430 list and get something that is different and has some character.

okay okay. Go with option 6. How far back do you want to go? A couple of bucks over Fishbulb would get you a 330 GTC if you hunt around. If you really want to step up a 275GTB would be as good as the Hedge Fund but you could drive it too. Who wants to invest in shrubs anyway? :)
