I'm whiling away the hours here as we get hit with one of the biggest snow pileups in a few years (12" overnight -- snow, not porn-related), I'm having fun trying to decide which car I really want to buy for my daily in the spring. I'm looking at anything 70-120K. My "impossible" feature set, in order of preference, would be:

    1. Convertible (preferably hardtop)
    2. Comfortable/quiet/roomy enough for a 6'7", 315 lb. fat-boy
    3. Style/Exclusivity
    4. Fast
    52. Low amount/cost of service needed/repairs
    99. Part time automatic tranny (ie it's a nice but not a deal breaker)

In other words, if I could get a F430, but convertible and larger inside for $120K, I'd be thrilled. Since I can't, I'm currently thinking of:

    1997-2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello
    2003+ Benz SL55 AMG
    2005 BMW 545CI conv
    1997-1999 Bentley Arnage

Unfortunately, a 360 Spyder is too expensive and a 355 is too small (360 might be too).

I'm really interested in the 550, but it's not a Conv. The Benz has the perfect feature list but "everyone" has one. The 645 is also a good feature match but people at work have thought on numerous occasions that it's a Pontiac. The Bentley would be cool too, but it's leaning a little too much toward the "bling" and "old man" look.

    Thoughts?!

Too bad it's not a couple years from now or I'd put a Bentley GT and a M6 in there too...

Well it's not a convertible, but you would probably fit very well in one. As for the cost of fixing it when it breaks down, it's pretty expensive. A friend has a '97 Brooklands and it was something like $800 for a tail light. This could change now that VW has taken over and maybe they have some way of reducing that cost.

I would personally go with the SL, but I don't know about the height constraint with the top up.

    Good luck with that snow.

Faster and more comfortable then the 55. Puts down around 515 horses to the rear wheels......factory stock.
