What to look out for F355 - newbie from Hong Kong

    hi all, I am looking for a F355 in Hong Kong.

    The one I am considering is made in 1995, done ~440km.

    Can anyone tell me what to look out? any idea of the maintainese cost to it annually? I know 1995 seems to be the first batch of F355, is there any design or reliability issue?

    I am very new to Italian motor. I do intend to drive this machine perhaps 2 to 3 times per week, in open road condition of course.

    The usual research such as # of owners and service history to start..then the rest of F chatters will surely chime in...

    Depending on whether you buy a F1 or manual, coupe/GTS/spider, do a search on this forum as there is a lot of info about known issues with the various iterations of the 355. I wouldn't necessarily nix a car just because it has a lot of owners (after all, this is HK where people change cars like clothes, and you're looking at a car that's more than a decade old)...but you just have to be a bit more careful with those cars in case maintenance wasn't performed as it should have. Service records are important, but regardless you should have a thorough prepurchase inspection done by IMSS. I haven't checked IMSS's inventory, and even though their prices are a bit higher than independent dealers, it may be worth it for a bit of peace of mind.

    i have a friend who is looking to sell his car. i know it has had nothing but the best of care in his ownership and the previous owner who i also personally know. no affiliation other than it is my friend's car. I have owned 3 355's in hk over the years and know many of the 355's have stories attached. my friend's car is one of the few that has a simple uneventful history. if interested pm me your email and i will put you in direct touch with my friend
