    Hi everybody,

It is about time to give my 550 its annual service. I am going to do it myself with the car on the hoist in my garage. Before setting out on this venture -- it is the first time I will be doing this -- I would like to obtain a full list of parts I need to order.

Here is what I have in mind:

    2 oil filters
    2 air filters
    2 fuel filters
    Oil tank drain plug washer
    Engine sump drain plug washer
    Shell Helix Ultra oil

    Anything else I am missing?

    Thanks,
    Rik

Rik- Annually changing your air fliters is overkill unless they need it or you are driving 15,000 miles per year, the recommended change interval.

Not sure where you live, but the Shell Oil is prohibitively expensive in the States. Quaker State Q is a direct substitute, same stuff in a different container. I use Valvoline synthetic 5W-40 in mine. Not too fond of the Shell lubricant products myself.

Need to change brake and clutch fluid annually.

Environmental filter calls for annual change. May be overkill, but recommended by Ferrari

Pros here (Rifledriver) recommend changing transaxle fluid annually instead of every 2 years. Synthetic GL-5 75W-90 of your choice.

Many more things at two and three year intervals.

All spelled out in the Owner's Manual.

    Thanks Taz!
I will tackle the differential as well then. Sounds like a fairly inexpensive thing to do while the car is on the hoist.

Shell Helix Ultra is routinely available over here. Not exactly cheap, around 11 Euros per liter, but that is about the same price as Mobil 1.

A brake fluid change is in order as well.
Do you have a link to the procedure on how to flush the clutch fluid?

    Regards,
    Rik

Same procedure as the 456, naturally. See the little paragraph that says "limited capacity" and "slow filling"? They mean it - it is very easy to get air drawn into the system from an empty clutch reservoir chamber - then you have to start bleeding all over again. It is also easy to do this several times, until you figure out what is happening!!!! Don't ask.
