    The 550 Maranello was introduced in 1996, in Germany at the Nurburgring. So, the first production year was 1996. However, the first "US Model Year" was 1997.

    Okay, thats what I thought. A friend said he saw a "1996" 550 for sale last yearin NYC, and I said that couldn't be. I thought '97 was the first model year.

    It might be a US Model Year 1997, but with a production date in 1996.

    For example, I saw a 612 Scaglietti at Laguna Seca in August 2004, which had US Model Year 2005.

    But I agree with you that the first US Model Year of the 550 Maranello was 1997.
