Saw this and I thought "I wonder if I can find an image on the web of a car like my first". Imagine my surprise when I found www.1300eownersclub.co.uk/site/ isn't the web great?

Yep I had a Ford Escort 1300E very much like the one below. Bright Orange, except mine had a black vinyl roof (stylin') and white lambswool furry seats. Saw a lot of stuff that car :)

1979 Lanica Beta Sedan. Maroon. Ugly. "They called it Mr. Personality, 'cause it's so UGGGLLLYYY"

From there, went to a 1981 Lancia Beta Zagato. Much better. Still a little odd looking.

Then a 1979 Alfa Spider- Ahhhhhhh

    Current- 1991 Alfa 164S, and 1975 308GT4

When I was 15 I bought a 1964 VW Bug with a blown engine for $400 and a 1965 Corvair Corsa with a blown transmission for $45. I took the 6 cyl 4 carburetor engine out of the Corvair (rated at 180 hp) and put it in the Bug. That thing hauled A$$ and with the low gearing of the stock vw trans could take a Vette up to about 50 mph.

95 Camaro Z28, fast as S*** and cheap, lots of fun, still got it. Strangely, my dads F-150 Seems almost as fast (! scary thought) and i spun the tires on that thing today, didnt think it was possible!

Looking at a Volvo P1800 Coupe (I think thats what its called) because the insurance on the Z28 is pure bs.

P.S. If Testshoot reads this thread, I believe you have that volvo, any comments on it? Reliability, fun factor, gas mileage, insurance, etc?
    Thanks

I didn't have my first car until I was in my late teens/early twenties. I got a 1994 BMW 325is. I loved that car. I then bought a 1995 M3. I sold that car a few months after I got it, and then drove my sister's Acura Integra for a while. I then got married and inherited another Acura Integra. I then bought a 2004 MINI Cooper S, and today I bought another M3.

I don't have a pic of my first, but it was similar to this, my 3rd. 1950 Straight 8 Pontiac Silver Streak. The first (a 1951 Straight 8 Silver Streak) was a wedding gift(my in-laws took a dim view of my motocycle daily driver); this black one I bought for $350 in 1971. (Sheds a tear.) Wish I still had it. (Sheds another.)

Well, technically my first car was a 65 Mustang Coupe (a long story), but my 'real' first car was a blue 240z quite similar to this one.

First car? 1954 Austin Healey 100-4
Didn't know it at the time, but you could not mix steel belted radials with bias ply tires. Put new Michelin radials on the front but bias ply on the back. Going around a corner in the rain, the front tires held well but the back tires did not so the back came all the way around. Hit a cement culvert going backwards. Car was a total but no injuries (except, of course, to my beautiful Austin Healey).

I paid $800 for it (in cash). Well worth it. Great little car (except for freezing parts off when it was cold outside in Chicago. This was circa 1959.

First car: 1990 VW Corrado G60. It was yellow. Next to the Ferrari it was my favourite car that I have ever owned.

    Now I have the 1997 F355B, 2002 Ducati 998, and a Ducati 998RS race bike.

Jimmy , don't take your Ducati to the drag strip. It was never made for that. You need to take it to Willow Springs or some other road course. Lean it over, drag your knee, that kind of thing.

K5mcl, you will not be disapointed! I think the 97 was the first year of the LS1 engine. Very fast, more nimble than its size suggests. I test drove a SS Convertible a while back, a lot of fun for the $. And if anyone tells you that the back seat is uninhabitable, dont listen! I rode in the back of on for over a hour, no problem. Just sit in the drivers side with your (or you friends) legs in the passenger side footwell, like in a Porsche 911.

Also, when you get the SS make sure to swap out the Exhaust for a Flowmaster unit, slap on a short-shifter, and swap out the ECU, itll be 10x better!
