Ok, we all have a Ferrari or some other high end machine. But what was your 1st real sports car? Mine was an 81 Mazda Rx-7 which I modified w/ Racing Beat stuff to the max & included a custom street-ported 13b w/ 750 Holley DB. This thing shot flames at night.

1977 Lancia Scorpion (Montecarlo in Europe). Very nice handling car, needed more HP. I wanted to put in an RX7 engine, but never had the money to do that. I was always being asked if it was a Ferrari.

1973 MGB bought new. Made the mistake of also buying a 1971 E-type Jag coupe a few years later.....nothing like owning two British Leyland products at the same time! I would drop the MG at the shop and pick up the Jag and then pick up the MG and drop off the Jag.....I spent all of my money on those damn cars.....but enjoyed the hell out of them. Ended up learning how to do the work myself, like how to balance carbs and rebuild carbs, and change clutches and exhausts and headers, and water pumps, and solenoids, and wiring, and.....well, let's just say those cars gave me a lot of opportunity to practice my mechanical skills.

And I have to tell you that there is nothing quite like being at a rest stop on Rt2 in Massachusetts at 2am having sex with your girlfriend (both of you in the passenger seat of the MGB) and having Massachusetts State cop decide to stop by to say hello.....yep, just nothing like it.

I look back fondly on those cars. :)

1971 MGB BRG (of course) bought low mileage used in 73. About a week later I knew why the miles were so low. I was under that freaking hood every weekend trying to get it to run right the entire time I owned it.

Next up was a 1975 260Z. Sweet car, ran great. Also in BRG metallic, as I recall.

    Aaahh... those were the days.

    '81 Fiat X1/9, silver/beige.

A brutal 75bhp, but so fun with that counterclockwise Veglia tach, big square shift knob and targa that stowed up front.

    It was my Ferrari trainer.

Lots of fun driving the back roads of the SF peninsula. Kept it until 1965 when I bought a new 1965 Corvette 396 coupe.

1977 Corvette, white with red leather interior, T-tops, automatic, wire wheels. TOTAL cream puff. Although it was the last year of the small back window, I built a state of the art (at that time) stereo with one thousand watts of ZAPCO power with a third order enclosure, no, make that eight third order enclosures in one box behind the seats, for eight 8 inch woofers. All 8 speakers sat maybe 4 inches from the seat backs. I got more chicks in that car than all of my other sports cars combined. Those were the days...
