While in college during the early seventies, I visited a Ferrari dealer. A young salesman decided to award me with a short test ride in a new Daytona. So, I scored a short acceleration run with very, very little mileage. A few years later, in 1977 I test drove a Boxer and a new 308 GTB. Then, I purchased a lightly used Boxer in Italy and drove it across Europe. Sensory overload, I couldn't get the smile off my face.
first ferrari i ever sat in was a f430 spider..haven't ridden or driven a ferrari...my best friend's dad just bought a 575m..so i have high hopes of getting a ride in a ferrari soon..
First sighting: '71 365 GTB, at a carwash in Aurora CO. Heard my first V12, 1973. *********** First Sat in: '78 308 GTB, at a community event in Parker, CO in 1978. First Rode in: Same car, '78 308 GTB First Drove: '06 F430 with World Class Driving Tour in Front Royal, VA, in 2006. ... All red, now that I think about it.
None yet, I don't want to sit in one or drive one that isn't mine. The first one I sit in I want to say is mine, I don't care how bad or unreliable it is. The motivation it has given me will be worth every penny alone.
My dad first picked me up in a 599 two weeks ago when I arrived at the airport in the wee hours of the morning. 2 hours later, I was allowed to drive it and it put the biggest smile on my face ever
The first car I ever drove was back in 1985 when I was a valet parker. As a valet I had the opportunity to drive a hundred or so, my favorite the 288 GTO, which a customer had two of them. He used to let me take the cars as he would often leave them overnight and felt they were safer at my house than sitting unattended in a lot. After that I drove for Lamborghini for 12 years and had the opportunity to drive F-40s, F-50's, 360's and just about everything out there. Never had the need to buy one, but with the prices at the levels they are at, I can't afford not to.
My dad took me to the New York auto show in 1988 when I was 6 years old. When we got to the Ferrari section one of the dealers knew my dad and was chatting with him for a bit. They then lifted the red rope and summoned me over to the F40. They opened the door and I got in. I sat in those red racing seats and held the steering wheel, nothing like it. As we were leaving I heard some guy ask the dealer "can I sit in the F40?" "No it's off-limits" "But that kid just sat in it" "No he didn't." I'll never forget it.
First sat in- 512S at Pebble Beach concours in 1973- I have the picture! First rode in- 330GT First drove- 250GT S1 Cab- still drive it alot- it's not mine......
My first Ferrari sat, rode and drove was in my father's 308 Vetroresina, I rode in a 355, Daytona ( at 200 Km/h!), 250 GTE 2+2.
I never knew anyone who owned a Ferrari. So for me the order is; Bought May 2008. Sat in, then drove my 89 348tb when it was delivered June 21, 2008. It was a short ride around the block in the unlicensed vehicle. Won't forget the day of how I was excited and very nervous. It was so cool. Still have never been a passenger or driven any other Ferraris. Greg
Sat in '88 328 with the targa top off in the Sport Auto showroom, Summerfield NC. Impressions: wafted back to the 80s, interior is classy without being gaudy, the seats aren't as supportive as the S2000, the windshield seems not as tall as the S2000, why are the pedals off to one side? and, this will likely be my next car. Photos and posters can't do justice. The 328 induces affectionate nods and broad grins from any angle. Rode, drove, not yet. We'll see how business goes in the next two years.
I actually don't remember the first Ferrari I rode in...I think it was a red 330 GTC. The first one I ever drove was a '71 Daytona. Image Unavailable, Please Login
First Ferrari I saw: 512BBi (was about 9 years old at the time and living in the Philippines) First Ferrari I sat in: Testarossa (at a Porsche dealership in Beverly Hills) First Ferrari I drove (same time as rode in this case): Daytona Spider (had it for 3 days as a thank you from my cousin - his car)
The first Ferrari I sat in and drove is the one I bought - 1993 348 Serie Speciale, Giallo, and I even remember the date & time - October 7, 2008, 12:45pm PST
Sit: Neighbor's glass 308 GTB, around 1979. Rode: Good story -- As a young Ferraristi in junior high (24 years ago?), I heard and recognized the distinctive Italian V8 approaching the bus stop on the way home. Looking up, I saw a red Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet approaching and did what a good smart-ass kid would: Stuck my thumb out for a ride! Unbelievably, it pulled over and the guy gave me, a buddy, and our two skateboards a high-RPM drive home. I'll never forget it and I owe that guy a big thanks today! Drove: 1986 Testarossa. Was a detailer in high school and got to drive it gently around the block. Second was a proper drive in a 1962 250 GTE.
