That sounds like the perfect Christmas and New Years Michael, we did the same thing. Thank you very much, take care and talk soon.
Weather is lousy so no Fcar driving over the holidays for me. Bring on Spring. Image Unavailable, Please Login
First post from a long time lurker. I took this photo earlier yesterday but I'm still wearing it (and enjoying it a lot). Happy 2015 to all of you. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No problem. But if you're in doubt, let the watchmaker check it. Takes 15 minutes and 5€ or the equivalent in $.
I'm wearing my Seiko 6105-8000 that I bought in 1969 or 1970 at the First Marine Division PX in Danang, RVN. I don't know how to post pictures, but you guys know what they look like.
Yep. And I am a fan! I have one of its newer brothers...post #4666. To attach a photo use the 'manage attachments' link before where you type in a post. Second box down.
Yes. I figure it should be safe since it has the Oyster case, triple lock crown and is pressure rated to 100m, but I've read a bunch of articles saying that stated "water resistance" depths are often misleading as it's a static, not dynamic rating, and simply swishing your watch in a bowl of water can somehow create the same pressures as diving. So what do you think?
As my jewler says, "If you haven't had it pressure tested in the last two years, swimming is at your own risk." You're probably safe if you haven't had it tested, but it is better to be safe than sorry. I pushed the envelope with a Benrus Sea Lord and was fine. Did the same thing with a bulova super Seville and lost.
It's correct, that movement under water leads to higher pressure, but swimming is not a problem with a watch that is rated to 100 m. Of course, this should be checked from time to time because sealing gaskets can fail etc.
Full moon tonight (technically early this morning) so I put on the speedy for the first time in a while... forgive the gratuitous caseback shot but it's one of the more fun parts of owning the watch. . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
