Where it all began for me....1978, I was a young, early 20’s, ambitious banker about to move to Asia for a long term expat assignment. Thought I’d add some gravitas to my “image” and get a real grown up watch to replace the $10 Timex on a Speidel stretch band I'd been wearing since going to college! Went and spent $260(+/-), which was all the money at the time and bought this Longines. Fast forward to yesterday, 42 years later, when I’m cleaning out/organizing the safe (yes, Covid-19 makes you do strange things!) and I come upon this piece. Instant memories and lots of smiles! I didn’t know much about watches at the time, just that this piece looked classic and adult. Here it is, with quick set date and hacking seconds, never been opened, and three straps later! I think I may have to wear it for longer than a week, given how grown up it makes me feel! It proves that it’s all about how a piece makes you feel and the memories associated with it, and NOT about the price..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
When I got back from Asia (lived in Korea, Taiwan, and HK), my soon to be wife bought me a Rolex Submariner (16800) on one of her biz trips to Switzerland and I put the Longines away. By the time I looked at it next, I was sooooo far gone into other pieces that it sat forlornly in its cave, forgotten until now!!
I find myself wearing rubber strap watches in particular this Vacheron most often. Very comfortable. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I have a Porsche design watch given to me by Ralf Stommelen , I helped him get a ride in a Hesketh 308 in 1976 . He was presented the watch by Porsche for his victories in long distance racing . A bit beat up but works and He gave me presentation box too . So not a piece of Ferrari memorabilia but motorsport all the same
