The prices of well maintained, properly refurbished or thoroughly rescued Mondials will appreciate when enough folks appreciate the model.

Appreciation will be driven, in part, by "today's" autos (all makes) which tend to be computer controlled and completely sealed to prevent owners from touching almost everything.

    What we have -

    1. A mid-engine Ferrari
    2. Iconic 5 speed chrome gate
    3. A low stance Grand Tourer
    4. Fuel injection and sort of "reasonable" mileage for this type vehicle
    5. A very, very limited number of on-board computers - a big deal.
    6. You can work on it to some extent
    7. Air horns!
    8. Some earlier Mondial models have no power steering - feel the road!
    9. Responsive suspension
    10. Extremely high RPM's available, if necessary
    11. "Reasonable" insurance rates - maybe

Prices will tend to be higher in cases where smog checks are not required because the removal of certain equipment (including AC where possible) improved performance and sound considerably!

Bottom Line: Maintain your Mondial and hold on to it!

I bought mine to wear it out. I don't care what it is worth in the end.

Just like Steve McQueen did with his Lusso, but his heirs sure cared what happened to the cars!

I just bought a well maintained low milage 1991 TCab in Germany for 69 kEuro. 360s are starting from 59. The Mondial begins to loose its image as a „beginners Ferrari“. For me its among the most beautifull cars. When I sold my T coupe for an open car I had the choice among 328 GTS, 348 spyder and the Mondial T cabriolet. I again chose the Mondial. Must be love!

When I was about 14, the Ferrari that I hope to own one day was a Mondial.

That's great! The one I always wanted was a 246 Dino, and darn near bought a Fly Yellow one for the magnificent sum of $9500 way back in 1979. Been kicking myself for decades over not pulling the trigger on that one. My Mondial Cabriolet eases that pain every time I look at it. I tell myself it is a Dino with two more seats and two more cylinders. (That will probably get me banned for life from the 206/246 forum!)

I believe the 308 GT and GT4 started life as Dinos. And the old man did once say that a Ferrari had 12 cylinders. So you could be right.
