Dog? Ferrari was right there for the title for years...that is not a dog. A dog would be a car that can't make points for a season outside of one or two gifts a year.

I would agree that it did indeed appear to be a slight improvement over the F2007, but it was nowhere near the best car on the grid that season

I agree. We could not be any further apart. Funny thing is I've agreed with a lot of your posts on different topics, so this is surprising.

I think you've been sold a bag of goods by the British Motorsport media . . . who despise Alonso. I happen to see McLaren 2007 very differently.

Bianchi is not a "pay" driver in the sense that Chilton is . . .

Well, compared to the second tier teams, Ferrari has done fine. Against the top tier teams, Ferrari has struggled. The results have been OK. But anyone who looks at the car and how it handles can see, it's a handful. It didn't get the name Clifford for no reason.

How about this? The Ferrari has been squirrely and difficult to drive for years.

    I could not agree more.

The F-60 was probably the worst of the bunch . . . until now.

The f-60 was very dificult to drive but he was better than results show...it only won at Spa but could have won at Brazil (hadn't Webber choped Kimi's front wing and also had a good chance at Hungaroring...if massa was still around i belive he would have one 1 or 2 more g.p...wich is not that bad......really bad and a ****ty dog was the thing they gave Alesi for years, especialy the f 92 and f93!!!

Can't make points = "turd in the water", one notch below "dog". For example, last year McLaren was a "turd in the water".

It was very revealing, once Fisi climbed into the car at Monza . . . having just given Kimi such a tough fight at Spa . . . to watch him flounder around. I then understood just how difficult the F60 must have been to drive to the final 1000'ths.

I believe the F60 added salt to Kimi's frustration with F1 and led to his wanting to explore other alternatives. I've noticed many on this board believe that Massa simply destroyed Kimi at Ferrari but I do not agree.

IMO, one could fairly criticize Räikkönen for not having the same fight that he once displayed, but I firmly believe that he was on his way to successfully defending his 2007 title until Hamilton rammed into him in the Montreal pitlane. I believe Räikkönen would have won that race. From that point forward something changed, and we were no longer watching the Kimi of old.

Sadly, now he's back and fighting . . . but doesn't have a car capable of the fight

Things will only change when Di Montezemolo hits his fists on the table. His face during the Bahrain GP said enough when Hulkenberg overtook Alonso easily...
Infact, we all agree: Ferrari F1 has become a not-so-modest midfielder. They come in 5th place: Merc, RB, Force Ind, Williams were in front in Bahrain... Do we realise what weak teams are left?

All Mercedes powered cars. And that is the thing. In 2014, if you have the right engine, you are ahead. Along with anyone else with that same engine.

French media reports Raikkonen's chassis was broken all weekend in Bahrain after hitting the kerb in FP1.

Well, one or two years ago Red Bull used a cracked chassis for two races and nobody noticed it.

Yes, of course, it was Webber´s car.

Yes, the situation is funny and tragic at the same time. I don't know what to say.

Really? I didn't know that. Do you remember year or race?

Sounds like Kimi out drove the hell out of Freddie at Bahrain GP.

Alonso sidelined with damaged chassis | Planet F1 | Formula One | News, Standings, Results, Features, Video

Fernando Alonso had his day cut short in Bahrain on Wednesday as the chassis he was running was found to be damaged.

Entrusted with both days at the Sakhir circuit, Ferrari swapped Alonso's chassis for Kimi Raikkonen's on the second day of testing.

However, after just 12 laps the Scuderia discovered that the chassis had sustained more damage than previously thought in Raikkonen's FP1 collision with the Turn 4 kerb last Friday.

And although the Finn used the chassis for the rest of the Bahrain weekend, finishing 10th on Sunday night, Ferrari opted not to run after the damaged was discovered on Wednesday morning.

A spokesman told the BBC: "The kerb impact in FP1 caused some local damage which we repaired during the weekend, but it has now become clear that there was also some consequential damage, unseen over the remainder of the weekend.

"This damage became only apparent this morning, and we stopped running on a precautionary basis in order to fix the chassis."

Alonso finished the day down in eighth place, 5.776s off the pace set by Lewis Hamilton.

The complete article says that it happened Friday; they repaired it Friday night. Then discovered today (using that chassis); that it had gotten damaged in the race, but it wasn't discovered until today.

Why would they have had Alonso use Kimi car anyway? That is strange.

I know in indoor karting - I love to do some runs with another good driver - then swap karts with them to compare and get a very good idea of which is better.

When you run two diff setups and designs, one will win out.

It makes sense to bring both Kimi's and Alonso's Chassis to a test, and let one drive get behind the wheel of both to compare.

At this era, where in season testing is so precious, it's terrible to throw away this opportunity.

I believe they have been using 'next year' excuses for years now...it's getting old.

Either that, of Fred is just being smart. What's wrong with him trying to figure out what his teammate is up to? It shows that he's not resting his laurels.

The F60 was slow and terrible to drive, but mid season onwards, they developed it right, and it was getting better as the season unfolded.

The F2005...well...that still makes me shudder...

Yes i agree with you. It's too bad to be leaving in this way and knowing that your opponents are constantly being improved and in the next race they will bring new parts for the car.

I do not think there is the best psychology in Maranello these days.
