What would you buy ?

First thing that comes to mind, have you ever owned a V-12? Seems like a logical next step. Other than that, step up to a Pista maybe, but outside your current target.

I personally wouldn't buy in an overheated market, but I'm strapped for cash anyway. But logically if you are trading in a $80k car wholesale against a $300k car retail it isn't a wash, even in a overheated market just by the percentages.

 

Agree that the market is cooling down due to the economy. You will find a V-12 will give you the torque that led you to the 488 in the first place, but it does so in a much more linear smooth way, which just feels more natural.

 

V12 all the way. But I would wait until after October before making any purchases of any luxury items. I have a feeling plenty of toys will hit the market for attractive prices.

Get in with somebody who has access to the dealer auctions and bank repossessions. The deals will be there first.

 

Hard to say really in your situation. Pista is too much, even with the 911 trade...same with 812.

Hope you are talking about an EVO RWD....if so, great car. I drove one once, very entertaining. If I wanted a newer car, it would be that or a GT3 RS.

The F12 probably doesn't meet the "newer car" definition.

I don't trust McLaren as a company. Our local dealer was bought out by the Lamborghini dealer because they weren't making it on their own. Then they had to sell their headquarters and take out huge loans...

different from the Ferrari and the Porsche and it sounds pretty good with the top down or with the rear window open… the upshifts and downshifts are pretty good in my opinion.

Cool car. Dump it when the warrenty expires. We have quite a few rolling into the shop now..the repair costs make a Ferrari seem cheap.

 

Probably the best sports car you can buy for that money.

 

Richard....you need to try a Ferrari V12....nothing like it. It suits your criteria listed really well.

 

An F12 would fit your criteria (except for the year). I’ve had CS’s, Scuds, a 458, and an F12. The F12 was simply a beast. Pilot Sport 4S’s could not contain that torque. And the noise was pure Ferrari.

 

for the two chief requirements - 2020+ and $315k max, nothing really comes to mind that would be much of an improvement over your current situation. That said, if you'd like to change things up, i would consider a Lusso or DBS Superlegerra for that criteria

 

Well for me (and we are kind of in the same position) you have the Ferrari box checked as well as the Porsche with awesome examples of each - Personally if you are wanting to stay exotic and have $300K-ish to spend I would look for a Huracan Spyder - To me they are sick beautiful - super exotic - checks all the "weekend driver/spirited drives/twisty road/shows" boxes in droves.

I am in the same position but have two Ferrari's and a high-end Porsche so rounding out the "family" has be focused on Lambo - but I don't have Huracan money so looking at an older Gallardo - plus might be able to get a manual without paying stupid money like Ferrari.

As far as waiting - my attitude is if you can pull it off now financially then do it and don't play the value game for modern cars - nothing you have or are considering are going to massively increase or decrease in value so while there will be spikes (like now) and probably some dips overall you are not going to retire on any appreciation and not going to be homeless due to the depreciation. I would rather get hit by a bus knowing I own a Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo then wishing I did

I originally had the same criterion as you and had a Huracan Evo RWD on order. I later canceled it and went F12 even though it's an older car. No regrets. The stock exhaust valves keep it quiet below 3500rpm but are very easily disabled.

 

What about the 488 is it that has you wanting to trade it/ what do you like about the 488.

I wanted to experience a Ferrari V12 and it was fantastic. Took it on a couple of short road trips and was able to hit 170mph in “Mexico”.

 

I'd give a V12 a try since ICE is probably going to be extinct soon. Maybe the F12? It's a bit older than you would like but I figure you could stretch your standarts.

 

Well that's pragmatic, especially if you are concerned about the economic turbulence [that is just getting started IMO].
