Shopping for a fun sedan I can drive in nice weather and maybe take on a trip or three. I want an E34 as they are relatively easy to work on (I like to wrench), and not too expensive.

I used to have a '93 M5, and I am leaning towards another. But I have also found a decent '95 540i M-Sport, and a 540i 6-speed. The M5 has had its SLS deleted (a plus), while the M-Sport still has its EDC in place. The 540i 6-Speed does not have EDC or SLS. All 3 cars are in the 100,000 to 150,000 range and appear to have been well cared for.

All things being equal, what would you do?

I loved the looks of my E34 540!

Black with tan, Koni coilovers and 18" wheels.

In the end, I decided on the 540i/6. I can make it handle better than the M-sport/M5, but without all the hassle of dealing with the EDC. Plus, the price gives me more room to bring it up to date on any maintenance issues, choose the wheels and tires I want, etc.

I have always been a fan of the E39 540 6 speed cars, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Would have said M5, but understand arguments for 540-6.

    Congrats

I tried really hard to convince myself to go with another M5, but the money difference, along with the lack of EDC or SLS just made the decision for me. I plan on driving the thing, and doing some modifications as well, so this leaves me with more money and less guilt. :D
