I would contact your credit card company and dispute the PPI charge.
I would ask the seller to refund the price to pay for the overlooked problems.

You should tell us who the seller and mechanic are.

If the above is true, why are we just Now hearing about it (over a year later). We did find several issues with the car (some potentially serious) which we put on the PPI sent to you.Owner did the repairs at his shop before shipping the car to you..none of the mechanical areas you mention above were a problem..The cosmetic issues were discussed on an earlier thread which you didn't respond to..basically a 20 year old car with average condition Original carpet, plus the front spoiler had been repainted..(this is bad?) we saved you a lot of money with the things we did find which would be overlooked on most PPIs..If you want to lie, thats fine..not paying is fine,too...we wrote it off last year...but we WILL defend our reputation..Jack, NJB Automotive LLC...weserviceferrari.com

Why the hell would I lie? Obviously you don't think they were problems then, you missed them in the PPI!

I'm sure everyone here would prefer we take this to PM's so feel free to reach out to me that way. FYI, I have the report from my mechanic which states all of the above needed to be done after I had bought the car.

Sounds to me like you never picked up the phone to talk about it, you just stiffed him.

If that is the case sounds like a case of Karma to me.

Lets face it, if you are going to own a 30 year old Ferrari you are going to need the basic intelligence to do or double check the PPI yourself. If the inner workings of the car (or any car) are a "mystery" then perhaps 308 is not for you. Do you own PPI, check you own wheelbolts and pack your own parachute...if you are not up to it, you are taking chances.

Trust me, you'll definitely be involved in the next one, just not sure what kind Carolyn wants.
If I get to chose, I would like something in dark blue or pruna,

Then you need to find another mechanic!

Any mechanics I used for a PPI produced their findings in writing. In fact, some had pre-printed forms detailing what they were looking at and handwritten findings. If you are going to pay for a PPI, you better make sure you get a written report. Otherwise, find another mechanic.

    Going pretty good, thanks, you?
Drop Ship...that could happen, A month ago I was fortunate to have Brian test drive my car and listen to a noise in the engine, he didn't like what he heard. I am hoping I can find it, and it's on the outside of the motor, otherwise, I may have to pay for Brians week long vacaton here in Florida

I hope the squirrels have been munching on the outside of the cam covers, I don't like the thought of removing the rear one.

I talked to the mechanic who had just done the full engine out service. He has a good reputation here on the board, so I believed him when he told me that it was a good car for the money.

It is a good car, but he sure left a number of things out, and, worse, ignored a bunch of stuff when he did the full service.

When I picked the car up in Phoenix, I asked him about the noise coming out the back. He gave me song and dance about a grease packed bearing. Why he didn't tell me about the flywheel, I don't know: either he is incompetent or a liar. No big deal, the parts to fix it cost me $100 and a lot of work. The motronic was throwing a lot of errors - now the lights stay out. It passed California smog, and I have my plates. The really stupid one is the engine mounts. Easy to change when the engine is out - a nightmare when it's in. Still, it's doable and I have sourced new style used engine mounts for an eighth of the new cost.

I can't decide if the guy is stupid, a liar, or just knew that I would love the car at the price I paid and didn't want to scare me off. None of those are actually OK, but for now I will withhold the name unless someone calls me.

To bad we can't clone Brian and put one in every major city...

A major doesn't fix "everything." Thats typically requires a "restoration."

My testarossa had a $20,000 or so major just before purchase... seller did it prior to the sale. Hard to say he skimped, as the clutch was done, brakes, fuel lines, water pump, and tons of area's were "touched." Its a great car, never let me down.

Still, "everything" wasn't done. It seeped oil (almost corrected now), many hoses were still old, etc. It just is what it is. If "everything" were fixed, such as the motor mounts you mentioned... the majors would be ghastly in price...

    There are limits...

I think mechanics also take into account what you paid for the car... They have different expectations for a $30,000 308 vs a $50,000 one. Do you feel like the car is still a good value?

    Exactly.

Remember, few give us Carte Blanch on a major. The shop is only going to do what they are paid for.

I have people call me once in a while asking about a clients car too. I know some probably think it rude but I really don't remember details about every car we service. I always strongly suggest they pay for a PPI.
