I took my car in for service and one of the things done was the actuator service for the F1 gearbox. After I got home I found the F1 reservoir nearly dry and I'm very worried the pump may have gotten air in it. I don't want to name the shop since they seem to have a good reputation, feel horrible about it and want to do the right thing but I'm simply not sure of next steps. My concern is the damage to the pump may not show up right away but could shorten the life of the pump considerably. What if it goes out six months from now? I think we all know just how expensive those pumps can be so I want to carefully determine the correct next steps.

Call the shop asap and have them flat bed the car to their facility and have them do a proper diagnostic.

I agree with this but document everything with dated photos first and save all emails, receipts, etc.

Sorry, should have mentioned that they are already going to flat bead the car back to their shop. My concern is that everything may check out fine now but the pump dies six months from now.

Yikes Monte, need to hear the full story tomorrow. Needless to say you will be driving the MG tomorrow morning, not the Ferrari?

Ask if they'd be willing to warranty the pump for a period of time... 1 year? 2 perhaps.

Sounds like a fluid sequestration event.

Just an update that the pump checked out fine and the shop is really standing behind the work. They are doing right by me and I'm very satisfied with the outcome. Thanks for the advice.

And this is a great representation of not bash someone on the interwebs.

    Glad it worked out ok.
