What Year do you think this car represents?

    This is a vintage auto racing plaque; cast aluminum, wall hanging. It depicts an early 1900s car with driver and mechanic; stamped on the back Sexton USA 1966.

    The plaque is 16 inches long and has lugs and wire on the back for hanging

    Has to be before 1923 but my guess is 1911-1915. Anyone out there an expert on historic indy cars? What make and model would you guess?

    Matt,
    It looks like a Mercedes, but most likely, it is just an artist's interpretation of what a race car from that period looks like. If the plaque was supposed to resemble a specific car, there might have been info on the car, driver or race somewhere on the piece. Nothing on the reverse/back, other than Sexton, suggests this isn't much more than a decorator piece.

    That was what I immediately thought of, too... the cowling around/on the radiator screams Blitzen Benz to me...
