    For all those owners who abide by their manual tranny's, I was wondering if anyone had the opportunity to own both a 360 manual and a 430 manual ( not necessarily at the same time). Which is the better driver between both of these cars ? I know the 430 is more powerfull, the point of my curiosity has more to do with driving pleasure...

    I haven't driven a 360 manual, but I have a 430 manual. The shifter designs are similar, so I imagine the two shift similarly. I don't think the power difference is an issue - the 360 certainly isn't underpowered. I like the manual, though it can be a bit notchy. The 430's clutch weight/feel is good, no complaints there.

    Like Rob, I've just owned a 430 manual. 17K miles, no problems, original clutch, no regrets. I would speculate you may find a bigger difference between cars than between models.

    They are both the same, I've had both, but my 360 was an F1, the 430 a manual, but I've driven 360 6 speeds, and didn't feel any difference, other than the extra horsepower.

    Thanks for the replies guys. The real reason for this thread is that I'm once again toying with the idea of trading my 360 coupe F1 in for an upgrade. The two cars in question are
    either a 2004 360 spider or a 2005 F430 spider. Both are manual and both are spec'd identically... Rosso corsa on black with red stiching, shields, and red calipers. The 360
    has both front and rear challenge grills and both have low mileage. I'm waiting to see what kind of proposal my salesman is going to make me... I wanted to see what the consensus
    was on either model with a manual tranny.

    Wow- you will not go wrong with either car!! The question now will be the cost differential- I would save the money and get the 360, but everyone is in a different situation and places diffent values on things like styling and absolute performance. Amazing you found 2 similarly equipped spiders, and both stick- tough to find just one!

    The 6-sp 360 and 6-sp 430 are basically the same mechanically, however the 430 is a lot easier to drive for the average driver. Due to the light flywheel in both cars, the rpm drops very fast between shifts, making it very difficult to up-shift smoothly. The 430 6-sp is much improved. The 430 ecu blips the throttle slightly to slow down the rpm fall and it really makes a big difference.

    There must be differences between individual cars then because my 360 stick was smooth as butter going into all gears where the 430 stick was very, very, notchy in all gears. - Tim
