I wonder if the engine internals, gearbox, driveshafts, chassis and suspension have been suitably beefed up to take the extra 500 BHP as the Veyron has been designed to?

You have to be ballin to spend the money/void the warranty on an Aventador to get another 8/10 second increase in 0-60 time from a stock car. Its not like the stock performance isnt already completely unusable on the street.

I guess sometime you do things just because you can.

I agree with you, it's borderline insanity...

You have to be rich AND crazy to buy this kind of kit... But then again, they have sold Veyrons in the hundreds...

Really loved the production quality and what these guys are doing with our marque. The video showing 0-100 is a bit of a stretch though. Clearly the car lost traction and was burning tires and not track to "100 mph". I you look at the trees through the window, you can see that they barely are going by at 35, 60 and 100mph. For the to get to 100mph, it would have eaten up a lot more road than it did. A lot more. Time to 100 mph with cars van change but distance will always remain the same (assuming two cars have the same diameter wheels/tires). A car that hits 100mph in 3 seconds will be approx twice as far down the road in three seconds as one that hits 100mph in 6 seconds.

So the car is clearly not hooking up in any if the gears in that shot.

With that being said, the other view of the car at launch shows it's speed. It is fast. Unreal fast.

Great job achieved, knowing what it consists in such R&D, they are real performers !
The question of the customers potential is already solved as a worldwide bench of guys will make it... what so ever is the final price...

    Meh.

As usual, far overpowered cars bore me. Quick in a straight line, yes. Usable power under 100 mph? Not much. Give me a car that's focused on actual driving instead. Spend the same money making the car lighter and it's 10x more enjoyable (for me). Never been too keen on the pointing the wheels straight and mash the paddle stuff...

I agree with Bas Jaski too... As stated in another thread, if the petrol reserves came to an end and I had the option of a one last drive with a full tank of fuel, I would take a Caterham Seven over a Veyron every time...

The best part of my old MX-5 ownership was that I could drive the car flat out everywhere, even in the city core, and that made it huge fun. Kind of miss that. Never driven anything with more than ~300 hp and don't dare imagine the power of a 550 Maranello and F430 Spider which are both on my wanted list. Hopefully they are great fun at ~60 mph too.

700 hp sounds otherworldly, yet there are street legal cars like the Ferrari F12, Koenigsegg Agera, Pagani Huayra, Buggati Veyron etc... Wonderfully nuts.

Completely agree. A car is most fun when it's on the limits of grip, or slightly pushed beyond it. Not entirely legal, but certainly relatively easy to achieve in a low powered car with skinny tires on normal roads.

Exceeding the limits of grip, or even getting remotely close to it these days on a normal road and for 95% of supercar drivers, even race tracks, is damn right insane. I think they got it right in the late 90's, perhaps early 2000s. Cars had enough power to scare you, yet where quicker than other cars around. they should have just focused on lightening the **** out of cars after that. Not adding more power. But hey, when a small hatchback is more than able to stick with a 550 Maranello up to 100mph...what choice do they have?

I read an article today by Michael Sheehan ''how fast is too fast?'' and he's got a point.

It's insane to think they could increase the drivetrain stress with this much additional HP and to design and engineer someting to handle it is...well...insane. This car as modified makes no sense. The resale on this car has to be a big problem as well.
