I was flagged for suggesting that the mods wouldn’t give it a performance advantage over a well-sorted stock 348 and for suggesting that a stock 348 would outperform a stock Testarossa. Snowflakes, I tell ya.

As for the car: if saw it at 27 I would have done anything to own it. The older me thinks it’s cartoonish and probably very uncomfortable.

    What say you?

The wheels were on the wrong side in the before/after pics at the end of the listing....it deserves its fate.

The guys that are pumping it up as a performance beast are annoying, but sometimes you can’t fight the mob. This car was so clearly built to look good on the internet with everything else taking a back seat.

I only hope the new owner goes in with open eyes.

If you’re gonna take it this far, wouldn’t it be better to just buy a 355?

It'd be a good looking car if they went all the way and replaced the cheese graters on the side with the 355 inlets. Looks a little weird with the 90's 355 styling at the front and back and the 80's styling in the middle. I'm surprised more people don't update 348's to look like the 355. Seems like it would be pretty easy.

It depends on what you classify as "outperforming" the Testarossa.

If you're talking about the 1984 Testarossa (and not the 512 TR or 512M), in a drag race, assuming both cars are in the same condition, and the drivers were equally talented, the Testarossa would have the (slight) edge over the 348:

    Ferrari 348:

    0 to 60mph: 5.4 secs
    Top speed: 171 mph
    Standing 1/4 mile: 13.8 secs

    Ferrari Testarossa (1984):

    0 to 60 mph: 5.2 secs
    Top speed: 180 mph
    Standing 1/4 mile: 13.5 secs.

On a twisty, narrow road, the bulk of the Testarossa would go against it, and the 348 would most likely edge out the Testarossa (again assuming both cars are in identical condition, and both drivers are equally talented).

This is supported by the Fiorano lap times:

    348: 1m 39.3s
    Testarossa: 1m 40.6s

Put most average drivers in a 348, and Charles Leclerc in a Testarossa, on the same twisty, narrow road, and I suspect the 348 would take an absolute spanking.

So you can't simply claim that a stock 348 would outperform a stock Testarossa - It all depends on who's driving each car, and the place where they are driving. At the end of the day, they're pretty close to one another performance-wise.

Put a 512 TR or a 512M in the equation, and the 348 would have it's pants pulled down around it's ankles and be made to suck it's thumb!

In short, it would look better if it looked like a 355.

I don't like it. It especially misses part of the 348 awesome 80'sness as the tail lights have been redone.

But, apparently someone does as there's bidding going on, so good for them. There's possibility of choice in the world and that's a good thing for all of us. I'm not forced to buy that car and nor the creator or the buyer is forced to stock it.

On the other hand, why would they? Yes, the 355 is a gorgeus car, but 348 in it's all 80'sness is awesome in its own way. Changing the looks it would still be a 348 and not 355 and one would miss out the technical advances of the 355 (which, for eg. me, would be the main reason to get 355 as to my eye the 348 looks better).

Id bet anyone $10 there’s some shill bidding on this auction. The comments, the bids… relative to past 348 auctions it doesn’t line up.

Maybe not shill, per se, but pumping. Lots of pumping.

The current high bidder has never won anything and has in the past only put in low-ball bids. I’m guilty of this myself — some times it’s fun — but this $75k bid is big for him. I’m skeptical.

As to how much shill bidding there is… I dunno. I’ve sold two cars on the platform without issue. scale details has sold many more.

I like it - I would never buy it as I like the 355 more - and by the time you upgrade the powertrain to match the looks, it'll be more expensive than a 355, but it looks like a mini (and more sporting) 512M, similar to how the 348 looks like a mini and more sporting 512TR.

Never a fan of white on tan, but I think the 355 front bumper looks dumb. The back is mediocre at best, otherwise just a 348.

I suppose the bumper and taillight mods can be returned to stock. The only thing I actually like are the painted lowers.

Otherwise, just another boring "custom car guy" thing.

I like all of it except the 355 front bumper. But if you're gonna lower your car like that. It's almost required. The 348 bumper is just too low. 348 front bumper looks better though, I think.

348 looks great in its own right. I wouldn’t change a thing outside of wheels.

Kids these days; they think if it LOOKS like a race car then it IS a race car.
