It can be a pain because store-bought fingers fall apart when soaked, and most recipes no longer call for a fortified wine zabaglione to be folded into mascarpone, so the results are bound to be less than spectacular given the time, effort and expense that goes into it. (The best one I ever had substituted a polenta panettone for the fingers.)
It has an oatmeal cookie crust as well as 13 tbs butter, 4 egg yolks, heavy cream and confectioner's sugar.
It has oat meal in it, so it's got that going for it. 😀 My calcs say that 13 tbsp of butter ~ half pound. So, a lightweight alternative to pound cake! T
I made Tiramisu for the first time recently, including making the savoiardi from scratch. My personal preference is to go light on the custard and heavy on the whipped cream, as it makes for a much lighter dessert. Don't forget the scootch of Amaretto and/or Brandy.
