The chili was good...…… Have Subway coupons that expire soon. Going to use one tonight. Not sure on the foot long I'm getting.

Veggie. All the toppings. Extra sriracha mayo. That's my recommendation!

Italian BMT, with everything on it...…. Tonight is burger special at Triple O's. As a side I'll either have onion rings or poutine.

    Rice and beans.

Simple ingredients. Well made. No undue fuss.

For our first night back, made a chicken vegetable congee. Easily digestable meal after a long travel day. Almost no prep apart from dicing veggies. Comfort food.
    Kind of like this recipe...

    https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/ginger-vegetable-congee

But no ginger (didn't have any in the house) and used yellow instead of green onions. A shot of habanero Tabasco for some salt and a bit of heat.

Tonight. Red lentil daal with red bell pepper and onion. A 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder. Add tikka sauce. A little sriracha.

    Another attempt at some different Indian food tonight;

    - Tandoori-tikka marinated grilled skewers with paneer cheese, bell pepper and onion.

    - Whole-wheat Paratha onion bread (like roti)

    - Fresh cilantro, ginger and lime chutney

Came out great and wasn’t nearly as much work as the other Indian food meals we have made. Skewers marinated overnight and thus picked up a ton of flavor.

I caught an episode of pioneer woman this morning that had a good simple chuck roast recipe. Slow cooker, chuck roast, jar of pepperchini's, beef stock and rosemary. Go for 8 hours. Gonna remember this one.

Neither would I, but I love pepperchinis. I tried to find the recipe online but can't. So it must be a newer episode. I found a recipe on her website that is similar but uses more ingredients.

That looks great. Is this the BBQ joint you posted about previously?

Got the gasser fired up for the first time this year. Went to local place to top off our 20 lb cylinder. About a half hour "burn off" of the accumulated crud.

Grilled 'gus. S&P and garlic powder, olive oil. About 4 min total grilling time. Set aside while I cooked the steaks, then zapped for a min in the microwave at the end to get back to temp and to finish off. Best asparagus I've done lb the grill.

Top is a roughly 2" thick prime strip from Costco. Bottom is a 1/2" thick Kroger choice strip. Was a PITA cooking two steaks of such disparate thicknesses.

Final product on the Costco prime strip.

I got coupons from McDonalds. So had an angus bacon cheeseburger, fries and coke. The fries had too much salt. Not the greatest dinner, but not too bad either.

Its almost 70 here. Think I'll fire up the grill and cook some steaks tomorrow. Nice thing is my house is on city natural gas. So the grill is plugged into the house gas supply. No more cylinders.

Inside joke. My wife will eat salmon, she loves broccoli, but won't eat both in the same meal. Only one "good for you" food per meal.

Our Son's quite the opposite - I grew some broccoli this year & it was trouble free then delicious. He paired it with Salmon & red taters - even did the same last night when 3 of us went out with my brother & his bride.
