Teaser...bonus points if you predict the type of food to follow (If I’m honest, I add that the beer sucked) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Something spicy from the Subcontinent? Yes, Kingfisher is not great. To my taste buds. I tried a beer once at an Ethiopian restaurant in DC. Can't recall the name, but it tasted like it was aged in a rusty bucket. T
It reminded me of bad malt liquor that we tried to get smashed on in high school. Luckily the food was good (not nearly in the "best of london" category, but fine for a hotel restaurant): Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh, that reminds me, here is Tandoor Chop House from Saturday night. Now this food was outstanding, unreal amount of flavors...although my memory of the meal is a bit foggy Image Unavailable, Please Login
Operation "return of the lost 25" continues of late. Here was a great Lebanese meal from a few nights ago: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And, one of the coolest and best value meals in years from last night. A place called "Flat Iron" which serves essentially one cut/size of steak (can you guess which cut?) and a couple of sides. And, I have to say, that is perfect. A great, great meal for a small price. Best creamed spinach I've ever had, fries that compete with the best I've ever had (they are fried in beef drippings) and very plus level beef. And so stinkin' cheap (steak was 11GBP, sides were 4GBP each), they even throw in a small cup of greens with a homemade dressing to assuage their price guilt I reckon. Their wines "by the glass" were actually 250ml (1/3rd of a bottle!). And free popcorn while sipping cocktails to start. And a free salted-caramel-dipped-in-chocolate-shavings ice cream cone on the way out. This place may become literally my only steak restaurant in London (its a small chain). Can't wait to go back... Sorry for the either flash-washed-out or too-dark photos...trust me, it looked better in natural lighting: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
AzIt's foodie tour of London continues to deliver! I think I need some alone time. To wipe the tears of joy from my eyes. T
I was in central Washington State, so nothing exciting. Dinner last night was beef dip at this place: https://www.yelp.com/biz/59er-diner-leavenworth-3 Mine was o.k., Id give the place 3 stars for food. 5 stars for service, our waitress was the owner. My dad thought the soup he had was excellent. Sunday was a steak burrito at a Mexican place, it was alright. Since central Washington is agriculture based economy, the amount of Mexican's in the town are booming. So several options for Mexican restaurants there. I think we picked an Americanized one.
Brother is coming over to watch the world series. So I'm getting a pizza again. Meat lovers from a local chain.
Tonight was one of the best dinners in quite some time. I was home so I cooked a storm. Chicken diced up and marinated in soy sauce and spices. Made on the flat top. Fresh pitas from a local Lebanese bakery. Hummus, tzatziki, veggies (jalapenos, onions, garlic, red/green peppers) in olive oil, quinoa, cheese, lettuce, pickles, cucumbers, sriracha and I'm sure I'm missing something. The other dish was sheppards pie. Extra lean beef with spices and veggies with smashed red potatoes. Cheese on top! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Random cooking with behind the scenes fun. Nailed the quinoa as well! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
More world series with my brother. Not sure what we'll have for dinner. I'm craving a bacon cheeseburger. Haven't had Fatburger in awhile. So maybe get it there.
I forgot to send a wire to my American bank, so now have to go to the states. My parents are coming with me. I plan on taking them out for dinner. I'm thinking of this place: https://www.yelp.ca/biz/noodleman-chilliwack My SIL is Chinese, born and raised in China. She says this place is the best she has had in Canada. I'll take pictures.
I need to find a good noodle place in DFW! Image Unavailable, Please Login Tried the lemon chicken marsala again. This time, a little more sugar to balance the lemon, and pounded the chicken a bit flatter. It was good. T
From the other night. Salmon burgers on a tortilla with jalapeño cream cheese. Simple but tasty. Image Unavailable, Please Login T
