Yes and no. Yes they all were dogs to keep on the road after the factory interest declined but the volumes were very low. The Lusso is a case in point. But there are so many 355s out there and no doubt when prices are silly as they are now, someone will roll out a time warp with 50 miles on the odo that will sell for list plus 10 like the 84 TR that recently made $110K at auction. But given the cost of ownership thats hardly a return that is exciting or comparable with (say) a 365 GTB. Even the 365 GTC's recent appreciation would put the cost of ownership under water.

My associates recently did a full strip down rebuild with NOS on a 246 GTB which cost north of $250K. Unless the Owner gets $400K he is underwater.

My point stands, no post 70s car is worth keeping for appreciation. For driving, fun, racing, commuting, - fantastic. But economics look like any expensive used car depending on condition at time of sale.

I agree with you and your comments seem dead on with past historic trends.

With the massive technology advancements of cars today the 355 will be a "relic" in 5 years.

The 355 will do well in the future despite all the bad rap it gets for maintenance. Honestly I been collecting since the mid 70's and the 355 has been a low maintenance car for me compared to the others.
Try keeping a LaSalle, Cord etc running. Even old Camaros, Vettes were maintenance hogs. I had several Big Blocks and a ZL1. Pretty much every time you nailed the gas they broke

Too many folks just never been down that real road of cars. What you see on Barret Jackson is just for looks

    :)
