Guys, another inquiring mind question. According to various sites, even on this forum, (100) 355 Series Fiorano (sn# 115426 - 116521 )were made for the US market from March 1999 to the end of production. 74 of which were the F1. Does that mean all 355 F1 made post March 1999 are Series Fiorano? And how does one verify it by checking to see that the serial number falls between these numbers (115426 - 116521 )?

Ferrari production numbers are very confusing to me.
Someone on here will jump in hopefully, we have a few people who track this and they are usually spot on with their facts.

The wealth of knowledge on his board and no answer. I guess we can file this one along with "who shot JR?" and "Where is Jimmy Haffa Body?".

I'm not a math wiz but according to my calculation, between (115426 - 116521) is 1095. Here's logic one. If Farrai uses every consecutive number to assign a Fiorano car, it implies there are 1095. We know this is not the case because only 104 were made. This leads me to logic two. Divide 1095 into 104 and we get 10.5. Assuming every car serial number increases by 10 it would make sense but not exactly. The first car S/N is even. Increase the next S/N and so forth by 10 results in the last car assigned an even S/N. The last car S/N referencing to the numbers above is odd. So here I am at logic three. The proven best way of tracking manufactured goods is to assign a systematic numerical numbers to them. It appears Ferari didn't use any logical order to assign S/Ns. And so the question remains. I think I better go find Jimmy Haffa body.

I'm pretty sure the last 6 digits are spread over all production lines. So even though it designates what model of car it is earlier in the VIN the last six are still used for all models in production. What were they making in 1999? 550 575 456 etc etc so you dont have a 97 355 112233 and a 550 with 112233.

As to your original post. What are you asking? What are you trying to find out? Are you looking at a 355 in that SN range and wondering if it is a Fiorano? Real Fioranos are hard to miss. With all the different parts even though most were availible options on non Fiorano cars they have special build plaques on them that make them hard to miss.

Guess I'm just not 100% clear what you are looking for or what the real question is in there.

You will find that among the Ferrari specialty models, serial numbers never correlate to anything. In fact, sometimes a numbered specialty car has a lower serial number that another car with a lower specialty number. It's not like the factory decides to make 100 Serie Fioranos 1-100. They made a bunch of cars and maybe decided to do 1 SF every-so-often.

A family member is looking to get a (1999)355 F1 Fiorano. I saw a few listed for sale. I guess my question, is there a concrete way to indentify a series Fiorano car. A badge on the dash or a cross drill rotor don't mean much. Carfax doesn't specify either.

We know they were made during the last 3/4 of 1999. If we can verify that all 355 made during those periods are series Fiorano, then manufacture date on the car is proof. There has to be a veritable proof.

Someone has to have a pretty complete data base of the Fiorano VIN numbers. I know Carbon has a lot of them recorded.

I'm working from distant memory but I'm near positive it say Fiorano somewhere else on a data plate other then just the dash plaque. I think the the drivers door jamb there is an extra riveted data plate that that says Fiorano and the number. I'm 99% sure it has it in the door jamb.
