Hi, This may sound rather stupid of me but I was wondering whats inside this part, I had it powder coated and I am wondering if the heat would have damaged it. Its off a 78 308GTS Thanks, Helmut Image Unavailable, Please Login
According to the Workshop Manual that is titled as a "Liquid/Vapor Separator". It's part of the raw fume recovery system for your fuel system. Some of the hoses connect to the charcoal cannister. Emissions stuff. I am not sure that there is anything more than metal baffles in there.
Nothing but a lot of rare, alien DNA. That looks like a charcoal cannister, part of the emission control system.
thats pretty much what I figured, filled with nothing on the inside, I wonder why it has 3 little hoses connected to the gas tank, wouldnt one hose do the job collecting vapors? Anyways, I suppose it cant be damaged by applying the heat for powder coat on it. Thanks! Helmut
One hose for each fuel tank, another to the intake plenum, another to the charcoal cannister (an evacuation pump mounted next to the charcoal cannister that runs right before start-up), plus a "drain-back" hose.
Thanks for explaining, it looks like all 3 go into one fuel tank. Is there an exact diagram how the entire emission system is set up and where it all goes, I have the shop manual but its not very clear on that.
I don't have a picture in front of me. Mostly from memory from when I replaced all of them. I may have seen a diagram in the Spare Parts Catalog.
If I remember correctly a person could download for free through Ferrari of UK via the Owner's site, https://www.owners.ferrari.com/
I think that website changed. I can't find any of the parts lists nor anything to DL at all on it. They used to have the shopmanual etc on there but now I can't it anymore.
