My Mondial seems to be nosier than most. The cat looks fine, no lose bits and the screens look good. I removed the muffler and there are no lose bits inside of it. However when the exhaust
goes through the muffler it creates a chirping sound. Has anyone opened up a muffler to
see whats inside? It's driving me crazy and I am almost ready to slice it open and try to
repack it with fiber glass. Does anyone else have an idea on what to do?

Search on "chirp" and "muffler tips"...

I think the common wisdom is the it's the tip baffles/screens that make the noise, and jamming some shim stock around the assembly in the pipe will quiet it down!!!!

    Good luck!!

Inside my exhaust extension are holey metal plates bent around a Italian broom handle and fitted inside the tail pipe. They came loose and would make whistling noises not unlike a chirp. Rebending these to fit tighter in the tailpipe cured the birdies. Did this without benefit of an Italian broom handle. Others have reported a similar experience.
