I bought the yearbook religiously and have every issue from 1992 to 2020, which seems to be the last one. It's a shame, because it had a nice summation of all vintage/historic auto racing events in North America and even some abroad.
No Ferrari content in the new issue of Octane but the paper and print quality seem to have been improved, although the subscription renewal process has not, which the editor admitted to me. He says the post-acquisition (by Magneto) subscription/renewal system has not yet been fully implemented.
That's strange because the latest issue I have (August 2024) has an article about a Testarossa. Are we talking about the same issue and, if so, does that imply the edition in the US is diverging from the UK edition? Surely you don't have the September issue already??
Thanks. If mine doesn’t arrive soon I’ll assume the new and improved subscription renewal service must have failed. The web site does not provide a way to “renew”, only “subscribe.” So that’s the starting point
The new issue #63 has been out for a while now. Three issues plus the annual yearbook edition each year. Image Unavailable, Please Login
FYI my twelve page historic bio and test drive article of an absolute Unicorn, Tom Meade's iconic one off Thomassima III (cover car of Road & Track in 1970) is now out in the new issue of Magneto; #23. It is based on the running chassis and engine of 250GT #1065GT. It had sat in storage for fifty years and Tom's son who owns it decided to bring it back to life last year. Because he liked my three previous articles on Tom and his cars through the years he kindly chose me to be the first journalist ever to drive it; none drove it in period so definitely a career highlight! It was a fantastic and very memorable experience May 14 in Italy Here is the issue's cover and some photos from that day by top snapper Dennis Noten whom I recommended to Magneto. Copyright Dennis Noten for Magneto magazine. For those unfamiliar with the magazine it is published 4 times a years, a superb very high quality publication made in the UK. It is not to be found in newstands, but by subscription or single issue purchase from their website. Also shown below is a shot of the R & T 1970 cover and one I took of Tom I took when I interviewed him in May 1996 at a Santa Monica cafe...for 5 hours! By far the longest interviews of hundreds I carried out; the usual duration is 90 minutes....but he was an amazing character and became a friend; we would have 3 hour chats on the phone...I last saw him for dinner at a Thai restaurant in LA in April 2013 4 months before his passing. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed driving it: it was surprisingly efficient: bravo Tom, he would be proud! As of today I’ve sent four requests to Octane to send a copy of #255. Due to their inefficient renewal process my subscription expired with #254. Not only have I not received 255, no one has even acknowledged my request. Pretty pathetic.
Octane? Do they still exist? They have my money since a long time and almost never supply. I say fraud. It is unbelievable. And they are unreachable and simply don't answer. Marcel Massini
I was sent a copy of this in the post. 'Autosporting', August 1963. Like new. Featured 1963 Goodwood TT and a lot on GTOs 3729 GT and 4399 GT. Nice photos and layout.
