We've talked, nothing planned as of now but back in 2013 it was he who asked me for my first article for Octane when he was it's editor in chief: the one off Maserati Mexico Frua I found in Spain which then won best of show at the Maserati 100th Anniversary celebrations!
Having been pleased with (and posted as such above) the first issue of Strada magazine, I was disappointed to receive an email just now telling me that they are not going to continue with it. I can't say I follow the logic of that. Having taken out a four issue subscription the email informs me that will be carried over to Magneto magazine (to which I am already a subscriber).
Yes it is very unfortunate but as its publisher explained to me there was no way to continue, it is not about logic but about numbers. I was just a freelance, NOT involved with publishing and do not know more nor could I share if I did. Do inform them that you are already a Magneto subscriber, I am sure they will take proper care of you.
Thanks Marc. What I was referring to was saying they had met their targets but couldn't continue. That doesn't make much sense unless their targets were wrong in the first place. Not that it makes any difference ultimately.
I'm in the same boat with jtremlett (already a subscriber of Magneto, so I'll contact Geoff to better understand how we can sort it out) and I personally share his own thoughts. Too bad, just yesterday I was thinking about when issue 2 would have been released. I can't think it's all about the Brexit thing. :-(
This just showed up on my feed. New digital magazine. Don't have any more info. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Seems like they were stupid to do the first issue in the first place if they didn't have a reasonable long-range plan.
Finally got this one, and it's first-class as usual. The section on Penske goes 63 pages, and included are 16 pages on the blue Ferrari 512M, so it should be of some interest to tifosi.
Here we go again.... Is anyone else here a US subscriber to Magneto? Today I inquired of the US distributor about the status of my subscription as I have not received the latest issue. I was advised that he is no longer the US distributor, no other information was provided. Why this change was not communicated to subscribers is not known. I sent an email to the editor who promptly confirmed that in fact there is a new distributor here and in fact that the US copies are now being printed here. I assume that this is to facilitate easier and more economical newsstand distribution, but come on, let your loyal subscribers in on the changes, please.
I am a subscriber as well. Last issue received was #10. Pasteiner's in Michigan has them on display. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Magneto now claim that they have no record of a subscription for me. If you haven’t received #11 and you’re a subscriber you might want to start checking with IMS, the former US distributor.
I just heard from the former US distributor that my subscription apparently expired with issue 10, although I received no renewal notice.
Re: Magneto it appears that my subscription has been sorted, at least as to what I needed to do. We’ll see how their new US distribution scheme works....
No, haven't received #11 yet. But i did just get Road Rat #8 recently. My Autocar sub is all over the map with July issues just now showing up.
There’s a good article in The Road Rat issue #8 about the trend of replicating the 250 SWB. Our own @Marcel Massini is quoted extensively, so much so that he is actually given a by-line in the table of contents. There isn’t a lot that will be new to vintage Ferrari enthusiasts, but it was interesting to see the subject addressed in a non-Ferrari-centric publication. Can anyone guess what Marcel says about SWB replicas?
I received Magneto #11 a couple of days ago. To my surprise it’s now being distributed by our own Marshall Buck, aka Lusso123.
I have been getting Magneto and Retromotive since issue #1 of both, and there are a lot of good Ferrari bits. Also, Road and Track does a quarterly double issue that is very different from the normal. First issue had a 250 GTO, and the latest has a vintage F1 car. Just get them all locally at Barnes and Noble, but got some missed issues from Retromotive directly. Great customer service..
Another new magazine with Ferrari content, available in both English and German editions. I'd be interested, but as is common nowadays, shipping to the U.S. is twice the price of the magazine, and thus prohibitively expensive. https://www.autodokumentatie.nl/product/tazio-ausgabe-1-english/
Just wanted to thank everyone who bought and subscribed to Strada (for I was the editor). Despite the best efforts of all concerned, it sadly couldn't continue.
Porsche people have enormous choice. To me the best automotive publication is “000” (triple zero). Some of you will know about it. It’s not cheap at a subscription price of $250.- per year for 4 issues. But production quality is unparalleled, and so is the content. Now that kind of publication would go well in the Ferrari community.
