So you're looking for that 'all-encompassing' Ferrari, which do you choose and why?

    Thinking within a $125k to $240k range: CS, 430, 430 Spider, Scud, 575, 599, or 612...

    For daily driving? Canyons?

The 599/612 have big boots to hold golf clubs, groceries, etc. I guess if you need an all-around car, they're more practical, with real a/c, power seats, etc. Also very heavy and safe.

If you just want to have fun and don't mind shifting/revving, don't need power toys and want some engine noise, probably a 246 GTS or 328 GTS. Or a 512 BBi.

For that money you could easily buy 2-3 3X8 and have them completely serviced and be pretty much bullet proof. These cars have the sounds and great handling and will not likely be taking any more depreciation, unlike the cars you have mentioned. They may not have the electric acceleration, but its quite enough and TONS of fun.

    Just my .02

For that budget, I would probably buy 2. A 550 for all around running, driving, comfort etc. Then I wouls also find a nice 308 or 328 for more aggressive runs. As others mentioned they are plenty of fun and will not lose a ton of value if kept up. Sinking all the money into a single car that you mentioned and then dealing with continued depriciation would be tough.

    {my opinion}
All of the mid-engined cars since (but not including) the F308 have absudly low front end overhangs. The F328 is not as bad in this regards as the F348 and F355 and the 360, F430 are not quite as bad as the F348, F355 because the front wheels are farther forward. If you want to drive around like the Ferrari is a SUV or BMW and not bonk the nose allthe time stay away from this end of the mid-engined line up.

If you plan ahead, and look ahead at curbs, entrance points and exit points and drive carefully, you can disregard the previous paragraph.

For that money I'd buy a 550 and a Stradale. If you're worried about value dropping these both won't sink any more, if anything they will appreciate in a few years.

If you're set on a new car a 599 HGTE should do the trick... With the 458 coming the 430's will drop quite a few $ soon, unless it's a scuderia.

A 360 is good enough, but you have plenty to invest so maybe a F430. Want more raw then go Challenge Stradale or a Scuderia if you don't mind the stretch. But if it was my money and I was going to spend over $160k then I would consider a 512M. I can care less about an ugly 612 or boxy/boring looking 575. The 599 is a great car, but for me the engine is in the wrong location.

I think that with the 458 we will see not much dropping on the earlier F430s since the biggest hits will be the 458 themselves and of course '08 and '09 F430s.

Best suggestion in this thread, although I think for $240K you might be looking at a Daytona that needs some TLC (tremendous loads of cash).

Not sure about that. F430s have a long way to fall, if they follow the usual depreciation curves.

I agree although I think 360s still have a bit to fall. with the 458 about to hit the streets expect f430 prices to plumment consequently lowering the asking price on a 360.

I never thought Testarossas would fall below 60-70k but low and behold they can be had in the 40s all day now.

A testarossa needing, but not a mint or well taken care that doesn't need anything and looks really great.

Napolis sold his in the $40k range some years ago, but it had a rusted out chassis.

I would vote 430 or 599. (depreciation aside)

They are the most reliable, least finicky, and most modern/comfortable to drive on a daily basis.

They also have by far the best performance of any Ferrari except the supercars.

If you have cash, an early TR can be had under $50K pretty easily. Values are off from "some years ago".

The 512 TR is a different story.

{quote from Testa}.................... since the biggest hits will be the 458 themselves ..................

what will the 1st 458's trade at 2nd hand hand in your opinion? (will they be $100 over like the first 430s??)
